My peditrician and I have decided to go with tubes for my daughter after having several ear infections in just a few short months. I am okay with this, my husband had terrible problems with his ears as a child and we don't want her to have to go through that if it can be prevented. My questions is not about getting the tubes but who to go to? I am in Clear Lake and my pedi has recommended a few places. One that is downtown, Childrens Ear Nose and Throat of Houston, but they cannot see my daughter until late June! The other facility I called is Texas ENT Specialists of Clear Lake and they can see her May 1. My question is can anyone receommend one? Should I wait the two months for the place that specializes in children (while my daughter continues to suffer) or should I go with the local place that does not specialize in children? Some advice would be extremely helpful here ladies... Please...thanks :o)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Dr. Strunk did the procedure and so far so good. It has been over a month since the tubes were put in and no ear infections! I have a happy baby girl again...

Hi L.,

My son (who is now 4 1/2) got tubes about 3 yeasr ago (they are great!). We used Texas ENT across from Clear Lake Regional, Dr. Grant specifically. I highly recommend them, we really felt like they took a lot of time with us and were great with our son. Good luck with everything!

L.,

I am not sure how they would do with a baby, but TX ENT is a great place and Dr. Strunk is a wonderful doctor. He has treated my now 12 year old step-daughter and put tubes in her ears about 2 years ago now. She has never had a problem with the tubes and she really likes going back for check ups.

Can I ask you a question? I have a one year old also and am not real sure I like the recommendation I got on how to wean her from the formula and the bottle...how have you done this if you have.

Thanks,
T.

I know you've already gotten the tubes and that's great! My daughter needed them and I had taken her to a top rated specialist in the Medical Center, only because he is my doctor and saved my life when I was 11. Just a note, he told me back then they would not remove the tubes, but the tubes would be pushed out of her ears as her little drums grew. It was around the time she was 1 or a few months after that one tube came out (in her crib), then a few months later the other, which I saw in her ear and got with tweezers. They are the tiniest things you've ever seen and I can't believe I found them both! She never needed any kind of follow up and is now (she's 18!) a lifeguard and certified scuba diver!!
