if her stomach is upset, of course she doesn't want to eat. make her some pedialyte popsicles, and when she can keep those down move onto fruit smoothies.

My 10 month old had a fever for two days. We took her to the er, it was Friday n our doctor wasn't in. They said she had a bladder infection and prescribed bactrim. She's been on it now for 36 hours and now refuses to eat or drink!! This is very odd she's always been a great eater. She's also vomiting now. I have a call in to our doctor but I'm getting nervous. I know vomiting and loss of appetite are side effects but I'm not sure it should be this way. Could it just be the medicine?

IMO, she probably just doesn't feel well. When we're sick we're not as hungry as usual either. When a child is sick it's important to make sure they don't get dehydrated. When our kids are sick I do whatever I can to make sure they are getting some fluids, for us, that means offering juice or gatorade which are treats in our house. The other thing that has worked for us is the pedialyte pops. Our kids wouldn't drink pedialyte but if I bought the pops and froze them they eat those up. Good luck.
Get her on pedialyte immediately... maybe cut the dose of Bactrim in half until you can get a hold of the nurse hotline or your doc for further instruction. You dont want her getting dehydrated because that will equal hospitization. The meds might be making her sick since she's taking it on an empty stomach. If she's a chubby little thing don't worry too much about the loss of appetite since that is very common with certain meds and will probably only be temporary. Main thing is keeping some liquids in her.
It's normal for appeteits to crash when you're sick. Call the nurses line, however, to get the number of wet diapers that *should* be happening, to find out if she's dehydrated and needs to be brought in for an IV.
Does she still have a fever with the antibiotics? It's been long enough that her fever should be gone. If it's not, another trip to the hospital is in order. Bladder infections in children aren't very common (at least that's what our pediatrician told us) so I wonder about the diagnosis. Bactrim is a really strong antibiotic and really upsets MY stomach as an adult. I can only imagine how it makes a baby feel :( Poor thing :(
I agree with the others about the Pedialyte popsicles. They've helped us immensely on several different occasions. If she won't drink anything and is vomiting, she's at risk for dehydration. I think I would put in a call to the doctor. They would have a better idea of what you should do.
I hope your little one feels better soon. A sick baby is no fun for anyone.
