Hi, I have an 11 month old daughter. She had a problem at 1st with the chunky foods too. Still from time to time she seems to gag on the food, but i've noticed that it's if she's either done eating, or the chunck is a little too big for her liking (not too big to swallow though). It seems to be a preference. what kind of fruits and vegi's do you feed him? are they all baby food? because my daughter won't touch baby vegi's, or the chunky baby fruits, i started giving her all the vegi's that i eat, just throw it in a food processor....or mush with a spoon or fork. to be totally honest with you, the baby food (especially the veggie's) don't taste good at all! and for some reason, they put the chunks of fruits in juices, and it doesn't taste all that good either...just try it for yourself, i'm sure you wouldn't want it. so i would suggest trying what you eat. by 9-10 months, my daughter's dr. told us to feed her everything we eat. if you still have a problem (which you shouldn't) by mashing your own veggies try to give him oatmeal....the kind that we would eat, like quaker, it's chunkier then the baby oatmeal....but not too much chunkier. and after that goes well, start on the oatmeals with fruit chunks in them. i've also noticed that even if my daughter likes something, she won't eat it unless i'm eating it too (and she can tell when i "pretend" to eat). so i guess, just try giving him what your eating, and mush it yourself, and as you find things that he'll eat, just mush them a little less every time, until your just cutting into small pieces/chunks. that should work. good luck!
