2 of my grandchildren did this, their pediatricians said not to worry, and they grew out of it. Sounds like he's just getting his bearings, he'll be off and running soon :)
Our son will be 11 months in a couple of days and he's been crawling now for a little over a month and also pulling himself up to stand. We've noticed that he doesn't really use his legs to pull himself up, he uses his upper body. And then while pulling up with his arms, his feet point inward and he rolls up on the outside of his ankles. Most of the time after he gets himself up, he will position his feet on the floor the correct way, but sometime he will stand there on the outsides of his ankles. Is this normal? It looks really painful for me so whenever I see him doing this I am quick to position his feet flat on the floor. Just wondering if I should be concerned or not.

He will figure it out.
I would not worry..Give him time..
He's fine!
It will take a little while for him to figure out how it all works best and he'll be off and running before you know it.
Babies are low to the ground so they don't have far to fall.
He'll figure out how to position his own feet (it's better if you let him do it - and I've always felt bare feet were best for traction and balance - my son didn't really wear shoes till he was about 2 yrs old and outside a lot more).
Kids leg / foot / stance development goes through several stages.
They go through being knock kneed and pigeon toed back and forth a few times before it settles out sometime around 7 yrs old.
If I were you, I'd get him some high top shoes to support his little ankles. I do think that the rest will work itself out, but I wouldn't want to take a chance with those ankels.
If your baby ends up walking with his feet turned in, DO take him to a pediatric ortho doctor. I was very pigeon-toed as a child and needed special shoes to hep me. I'm still a little pigeon-toed, but nothing like I used to be. (Thank goodness!)
He is just learning g to do this. He will get it right . Don't worry. He is fine.
My son did this for a little while as well. Don't worry too much about it. I would, however, just mention it to the doctor when you go in for his next check-up. Sounds like he's doing great!!
Good luck!!

I would be bothered too. None of my children did this.
When he has his 12 month well-child check up - write it on the list of things to cover with the doctor....if it is still happening when he starts walking? I would ask for a referral to an orthopedist and have him/her check my child's legs, feet and walking stance.
It may correct on its own. It may not. He may be pigeon toed? I don't know. But keep an eye on it and make sure you write it on the list of things to discuss with your pediatrician at the 12 month check up!
Good luck!
There could be some muscles in his legs that have not developed yet. I would try to find a chiropractor that works on babys. Not all do. I know mine specialises in infants and children. I never took my boys to one that young because I never know it was good for them till my last one told me the sooner they get adjusted the better. Especally if they were born naturally. I take my boys who are older to one more than their pcp.
His bones and muscles are not as set as ours and it will take a while to even judge if anything is wrong. I declare him fine.
