My 12 month baby boy keeps crying. He is so tired and the lightest touch from anyone starts him off. And Boy! can he cry, last night he was screaming for 45 minutes and no matter what I do he will keep crying. He arches his back, if I put him on the floor he bangs his head on the floor. I don't know if it is gas or what. I am in the process of changing his milk but have switched back to full formula because he has stop drinking milk. I don't know what is wrong with him. I have Group Health for medical coverage and they really do not help. Any advice?

What can I do next?

I almost checked to see if i had posted this one...My first will be three in may and my second just turned one in jan. My second one is transitioning from our bed to the room with his brother. Which pretty much leaves him on the floor in our room at the moment on his crib mattress. And he has settld into a pattern where monday through wednesday nights he wants to stay up late and if you try to do any different he freaks out. The he doesnt get up until like ten. Which would be fine but it throughs naps off. Thursday and friday nights he doesnt sleep at all once he falls asleep at like ten he is up literally every hour on the dot crying.which wakes up his brother and then i have him sleeping at my hubs and my feet. Saturday he sleeps like an angel becasue he is sooo tired. I give him gas meds and tylenol when thursday and friday come because by two in the morning i am tired. they work sometimes but not always. He too has had trouble switching from formula to milk. He was on soy formula and then moved to soy milk which made his tummy so tight i have him on this stuff now my similac called go and grow. It is so expensive but it is the best alternative to him being in knots on the floor. he is also cutting molars and a bunch more teeth so i know that is what the rest is from. Is your son teething by chance still? that really could be it. i feel for oyu though i dont work but am seven months prego with our third boy so i need sleep. I would see though if he is teething cause that can make them uncomfortable all over or maybe he has a small cold. I hated group health when we had them. Their doctors answer for everything was antibiotics..thats it. Anyways i write this mainly to let you know you arent alone...when you are up with your kids there is at least me up with you!!! Lets hope it is just a phase for sanity sake!!

When my son - who is now 15 months old - was an infant we learned that he was allergic to dairy. He was so sensitive that even though I was breastfeeding him - even I could not have any dairy. One of his symptoms was the crying. I feel your frustration with the doctors too. His doctor didn't offer much either. Did he just start doing this when you switched milks? Even check his formula - many are milk based. This is just a thought about the dairy thing. Many more kids these days are allergic - 2 out of my 3 are. I hope that you are able to get some sleep - I understand that dept too - my son still wakes up every 2-3 hours to nurse. Best of luck!

I'm not sure what exactly is going on but I've read some of the replies and I do know quite a bit about formulas. Changing formula can give you some immediate relief but typically takes a full 2 weeks to completely adjust. Please research Soy milk based formulas BEFORE thinking about trying them. Soy has 400 times the aluminum than breastmilk and and is thought to have long term health affects later in life. Arching the back is often a sign of dairy sensativity. You can try nutramagin or alimentum. Both are exepensive but can make a difference. I also send many families to Seattle Radiant Health (John Gissel) for cranial sacral work. He can work magic!

Good luck.

Sounds like you should insist on speaking to a specialist or go out of your Group Health Co-op and see someone else. I have a great Dr who has been working with kids for 30 years if you are interested.
