Well I'll try and make a long story short. My fiancé had gotten a stomach bug last Monday. Wednesday my little girl vomited once, we just thought maybe she drank too much milk. She was then fine until around 8am Friday morning and start vomiting and having diarrhea. After finally getting pedialyte into her system and it staying down she was fine. Later that evening I got the nasty bug. She's been fine all weekend. Now it's monday. She woke up screaming at 12:30am and I found she had puked again. It's now 4:30am and I've finally got her laying down trying to sleep. Could this be the stomach bug again or am I being a over worried mom? I'll be calling her ped in the morning when they open.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the help! I took her to her doctors today and they said it was Gastroenteritis, the stomach flu. So, I'll be keeping her on the Brat diet for a while.

Hi, M.:

She may have eaten something that is giving her this problem. Get some OTC diarrhea med. If it doesn't subside, call the Doc.

My kids have had a few stop and go bugs this winter. They would be sick vomitting or diarrhea and then would be fine a few days and then get sick again. It was hard because I would never really know when they were finally better. Usually after vomitting after a few days of being well was the last of it for them. I keep asking myself "What ever happened to the 24 hour bug?" Keep her on a lite diet until she has a normal formed BM, thats my rule... usually works out well. Sometimes they return to a normal diet too quickly and their tummys can't handle it after being sick. Hang in there!

I've seen a lot of kids do this lately. A few bad days, then a few good and then another bad. All these symptoms have been present. I think it's just a nasty little bug that takes awhile to work out of the system.

Are you nursing her by any chance? If so, keep nursing! My son (nursed) has had a stomach virus twice and it was never as bad as ours. He'd vomit and keep playing, have diarrhea, and just keep playing. Does the diarrhea have a terrible odor? Weird question I know, but certain stomach viruses are characterized by HORRIBLE smelling BM's.

Definitely get probiotics in to her. You can buy some that go in water or juice or at least get some yogurt or kefir into her.

Sorry mama, hope she feels better!

Looks like the stomach bug keeps recycling in your home. Try washing everything again and spraying Lysol through out the house. Don't eat or drink after one another nor kiss each other on the lips, (if you tend to do that to your baby). Hopefully it will pass in another day or so. We've been there twice and it's not fun.

Also, don't give her much dairy. Try crackers, or things that won't run through her or make her bring it back up. Keep fluids in her for sure.

It sounds like you are on the right track. When your child is sick there is no being over worried. I would stick with givng her the pedialite. When they are sick like that the doctors office will tell you to put her on the brat diet-bananas,rice,apples and toast. I would call since she is young and see if they want her to come in. You want to make sure there is nothing else going on like an ear infection.

It is probably the stomach virus. See the doc, but make sure to ask about Lactinex or some other probiotic. She will definitely need it.
Bless her little heart!

Usually these kinds of bugs are fecal-oral, so disinfect EVERYTHING in your house-- esp. the bathroom, door knobs, sink handles, telephones, and her diaper changing areas. Good luck-- what a pain. Ugh.
