Have you tried vaseline? Apply it at night; it should be better in the morning. Also, Aquafor works as well. At least that is what has been recommended in the past. However, I have found that vaseline works just fine.

Have you tried aquaphor ointment? It has worked for my 7 month old when other lotions wouldn't. Good luck.

My neices have severe dry skin. One of them uses a special soap given to my sister by the dermotoligist. Anyway, she uses Cetaphil lotion/cream on both of my neices and this seems to work best.

Please don't use vaseline that is the worst thing you could do. I use Renew lotion and bath oil from Melaleuca on my girls and it's the only thing that has worked for them. It's the best thing you will ever do/use on your little one! I would be happy to talk with you about it.

Only use Arbonne Baby Care products. Put the herbal cream right on his cheeks. Keep away all soaps and lotions and creams that have mineral oil, fragrance, and animal products.

My 11 wk old also has dry skin, so much so that he sometimes gets a rash! Since using CeraVe Moisturizing Cream he does not have any rash! I have to use it several times a day, but my pediatrician recommended it!

I've heard Aquaphor by Eucerin works well for some babies. I've tried it and it doesn't work as well because it isn't absorbed into the skin. I've seen on another post where a mom put Aquaphor on right after bathing to lock in the moisture of the water - this seems like a good idea!

Also assuming he doesn't have allergies, try a humidifier in his room since the air is very dry during the wintertime.

Use Vitamin E lotion. This will work. I use it for my feet in the winter. Good luck.

I highly recommend Baby Eczema Cream made by Gentle Naturals. It comes in a tube with disney characters on it and can usually be found in the baby section. It has made a world of difference in my 17 month old's skin.

Vasaline or Eucerin Aquaphor. Nothing is better than these two items for common dry skin. I have dry skin and so do both my children and I couldn't live without these.

My doctor recently told me to pick up Carmol 10 from our pharmacy. Wehad to have him order it, but it was in the next day & was only $20.00 for a medium size bottle. My daughter's cheeks are the same, dry, scaly & sometimes with bumps.

I began using oatmeal baths according to the instructions, along with aveeno moisturizing lotion

I use Burt's Bees, California Baby, and Aquaphor. As another person mentioned the coconut oil, the Burt's Bees has that in it. I have seen really good results using combos of these three products.

Vaseline works great! I know other mothers have mentioned it too on here and there is one that has a healing agent in it. But Vaseline is great, for your skin too!

My DD has very sensitive skin and her cheeks were really dry. I found Soothing Naturals by Johnson & Johnson that is more like a balm and is specifically for the cheeks and it works really well. You can find it pretty much anywhere.

Aquaphor is the best....it is a thick ointment and really covers well.

My baby girl had really dry skin also, not quite that severe I don't think. I asked her doc what to put on it and she gave me some samples of Aquaphor ointment...it worked great.

Yes, there are several things to try.
1. Put Aquaphor on his cheeks, throughout the day. You can also try aquaphor bath,

2. Try Johnson & Johnson Soothing Naturals. They have bath gel, lotion and a facestick. It smell great.

My almost 12 month old uses the Soothing Naturals and the Aquaphor adn her cheeks are TONS better!!!

I massage my baby with olive oil and then give her bath with lukewarm water. Oil protects the baby skin from drying.

My pedi told me to use Eucerin. I bought the Walmart brand and it works great on my 2yr old. It's thick, so it really helps with those red, cracked cheeks.

I feel for you and your baby. My daughter had and still has similar problems. Our doctor recommended Aquaphor which worked great and is gentle. If the skin is bleeding, you may want to check with your doctor to make sure it isn't infected. Good luck!

My nephew breaks out from food allergies (especially wheat). The only thing that has helped him other than staying away from the things that they know makes him break out is a product that the doctor gave them. The name of it is Pleo Muc Ointment 3X. I have only used the ABC line from Arbonne for the past 3 years. I love it and that's the only thing I will be using. Any kind of skin rash or irritation always clears right up and it's good for them. No mineral oil is what I like the best...the oil is not "oily". Use the wash, oil and then lotion, and you could use the oil and lotion again in the morning or whenever necessary. Go to the website or find a friend who is a consultant to get the 35% off wholesale price. I hope you find a solution! Bless his heart with the bleeding! Really, try Arbonne's ABC line. I think you'll love the results.

Something else you might want to try is chapstick. I used it with my kids and it worked great.

i read the other responses and they all seem great. but on top of using the lotions and creams i would run a humidifier in his room all day and night. the winter's are so dry, humidifiers work wonders (if it's a good one!).

Keihl's baby lotion is a miracle cream- red cheeks will be gone in less than 24 hrs. Also, Aquaphor from the gracery store (in the jar) is great too, and both are very gentle- good for face & whole body.

I am a NICU nurse and we use Eucerin Aquaphor or Eucerin cream for the babies so both are good for sinsitive skin.
Eucerin also makes a liquid oil soap that would help when you give him a bath. Also try not giving him baths every day if you can.

Have you tried coconut oil? It is antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antifungal!!! It's all natural so doen't contain all the chemical ingredients and toxins that are in lotions and creams. You can get it at Market Street, Central Market, Natural Grocers, or Whole Foods. I buy the organic, unrefined kind. And if he happens to eat some, no big deal- it's good internal as well! You can use it in cooking too! Seriously, I HIGHLY recommend this to be the very next thing you try. It is an awesome moisturizer. I use it on my face and for baby massages, and for diaper rash. Enjoy the smell too!!

Aquaphor...use it EVERY DAY, TWICE A DAY, and every single time you wash his face, use it on the dryest areas. It works!

Aveeno oatmeal baths help (all my kids had Eczema) & Aveeno makes a lotion that has menthol in it that my daughter uses during the winter. But your son sounds like he needs Vaseline or Eucerin.

Lukewarm baths, not hot. Gently pat dry, not rub. If you feel strange about skipping baths, try Mustela's PhysiObebe No-rinse Cleansing fluid. It has almond oil in it and worked wonders for my kids (and it's not as expensive as the Arbonne stuff). You just squirt it on a washcloth and wipe the baby down, no rinsing. Nordstrom carries it and you can find it at Babies R Us and on-line.

2 things for laundry to look at:
Change your laundry detergent to Cheer Free or Woolite, they don't have any added phosphates or other chemicals that will irritate. Don't use dryer sheets, our dermatologist said it was like putting sandpaper on the skin.
