Welp my son fractured his lil leg, he is in a splint now and will go to the orthopedist on Wednesday to get a hard cast put on for 6 weeks..............Anyone have any suggestions on how to keep him from trying to walk on it? The doctor said NOOO walking or even standing :( hes so active so this is going to be so hard on us all......poor lil guy. He is in a full splint right now, does anyone know if the cast will be a full cast? Just curious.

Thanks everyone

Oh, that sucks! I responded to your last question about the xrays and told you about my daughter breaking her arm.
He will most likely have a full cast. Poor little guy! I'm sending good vibes your way! I know how active toddlers want to be.

Hi, my son broke his leg around that age too..........it was a full cast......from the top to the toes..........he finally did walk on it..........I was freaking out, but the doctor told me that kids are smarter than adults, if it hurts, they won't do it.........so, if he tries and it hurts he probably won't walk on it.........they finally had to take his cast off because it was crumbling due to him crawling and walking on it......

He turned out fine...........Poor baby tho, he won't like it.....just make sure it's pretty and he can draw on it......that seemed to help my son.........

Good Luck Mom and hang in there.

My son also fractured his fibula and did infact have a full cast. Oh, and when you get the cast, if you have the option, be sure to get the waterproof cast. It will make your life sooo much easier to be able to give him bath like normal. You can even take him swimming. Hope he is feeling better soon.

I agree with getting a waterproof cast. My 4 year old daughter broke her foot and just got out of her cast. Our insurance didn't cover the waterproof one but it was so worth the $100. She was able to take a bath and even keep going to swim lessons. Also if it began to itch a warm bath helped. Sorry for your little one. It's heartbreaking to watch but it will be OK!
