15 Month Old Won't Give up Bottle

Hi everyone. I've tried different times to ween my daughter from the bottle, and she would do fine for a day. Then the next day she won't drink anything that comes on a sippy cup. I always end up giving her the bottle again. It seems to me that she really enjoys her bottle. So any ideas of weening and plan B in case it doesn't work?

What can I do next?

I know pediatricians try to push us moms into getting them off the bottle around 12-15 months, but I think that is just one of those things the kids let us know when they are ready. I have 2 kids and they were both very hard to ween from the bottle. I just let them have the bottle until about age two, then I got really serious about it. At that age they are a little better at adjusting to a sippy cup. I am now pregnant and I plan to do the same with this one (whose name will be L.) when it comes to weening off the bottle. My kids don't have dental problems bc of this and so I am just going with what works. Good Luck!

my daughter (3 now) didn't give up her bottle until she hit 2 yrs. her pediatrician said not to worry about it as long as we were not putting her to sleep with it and brushing her teeth after she drank her milk. we did. it was the only way she would drink her milk. we tried every sippy cup before then.

she threw them in the recycle bin on her own at age 2 and we went to buy some brand new princess sippy cups which she picked out - her "big girl milk cups". no fuss, no fight - they give it up when they are ready. : )

my 15 moth old son still gets a warm bottle when he sleeps...
I think it is all up to the child and parent..I havelearned you cant take one thing away without giving in return...If the nuby's dont work my son really likes the new ones that are rounded tops he can get his tounge around it easier..

Try a nubby cup you can get them from walmart, target, HEB and I am sure other places too. My kids liked them but I did not have any trouble weening them. Becareful with those cups though because when my kids would bite them the part that keeps it from spilling would start to come apart after awhile. They are not as effective that way for the spill proof part. Good luck!
