A sno-ball fight is LOTS of fun for teenage boys.
We also do shaved ice visit to any kind of party.

My son will be 18 and still expecting a party. Any ideas?
Thank you all so much for your great suggestions. We always have a family dinner. My son felt he was disconnecting with friends, they were all so busy and he wanted to spend some time with them. We had done the paint ball, laser tag, amazing race, pool parties before, so I opted for a Texas Holdem Party with Pennies of course and some little prizes. The kids had a blast, had it at my home, got some backdrops and hung in our dinning room over the windows. They played Texas hold em til 3am.

That is a big deal!! Big birthday! What kind of party does he want?
If you have a pool, have a big pool party.
Our daughter LOVES parties and we have about 2 a year with DJ, caterer and the works. The kids love them. We've been throwing big parties since she turned 12 and she will be 15 in Dec.
We use Bill Cody's Party Time Productions for DJ service. Bill is a fantastic DJ, pretty well known in the area. Bill also has other entertainers.
Have fun!!
Funny but a lady i work with just went thru the same thing with her 19 yr old daughter. Seh was a little surprised that she would even ask about a party. She told her she would do 'parties' only for school age kids and not meaning college. She also got to the root to see why they wanted a party. Silly but money was the main thing. The girl didnt want to fork over the money for her own party if mom would foot the bill. Mom opted to continue the big family dinner that they have always done. I would check on the reason for the want of the party. Is your son missing attention? Maybe he needs some old fashioned one on one time with you or is it like my friend, money. The family dinner is always good and pull out the old videos and photos. Have fun!
Certainly it needs to be age appropriate and we don't know your budget or his interests ... Maybe laser-tag or paint ball or a water park or go-cart center with video games with his friends in the afternoon. Skip the cake and presents and save it for family-only at this age. When my son was 21, I treated him to go on a glider plane. He went on one and they let him co-pilot it. (Oh, how he loved that! I couldn't afford to pay for his friends to do it too, but wish I could have.) After 18, perhaps stick to family celebrations and expect their friend(s) or girl friend to help him celebrate by his offering to treat them (wherein their friends can offer to treat instead or go Dutch or whatever their budgets can take.) This helps them learn how adults celebrate.
When my 23 yr old son turned 18 I had him an "Incredible Hulk" birthday party. Since it was his last one as a child, I got him an incredible hulk pinata and cake. His friends had a blast hitting the pinata but we did leave the breaking of the pinata to him.
are they into paint ball? what about midevil times? texas ranger baseball game? good luck mom.
What about having a party at a restraunt instead of a home.
If you have it at home, depending on your kids, they might expect you to break the drinking rules since they are now 'adults'.
If he likes video games alot, depending on his personality and repor with friends, he might even like an Incredible Pizza Party...I think Tuesdays might be 1/2 price games...you could call to find out about specials.
When my son turned 18, we had a big graduation bash instead of birthday party. My daughter will do the same when she turns 18 this spring, and then graduates in May.
have a camp out "just for the boys" -sleep under the stars , no tents, have a basketball game, watch a movie outside- a friend from va. calls these redneck drive ins.roast smores. you can do this in your back yard or go to a camp ground. have fun
paintball or laser tag seem to be fun at youth camps with that age group.
good luck and have fun.
what fun...you have a son that thinks it is cool to have a mom!
so, tell him to pick a theme, make his guest list and might I suggest holding the party at a location that is fun for his age group...not sure of your location...but maybe a water park?
Just stock up on soday and be creative with the cake, bunches of chips and snack foods.
Have fun, he will appreciate whatever you do for him I am sure!
we tend to have 2 parties every year (Fall/Spring) for bdays and client things... I use The Hamburger Man for catering and it is always a hit.
Depends what he likes but.....
if some of your neighbors will participate, you could do an Amazing Race type thing. The kids can pair off (couples, maybe?) and go thru the neighborhood completing tasks (neighbors' choice?) & collecting their next clues, etc. If you keep the area small, they should be safe. We've also done a Survivor theme - lots of fun, but by son was younger at the time & Survivor was a trendier show then. ;)
Hope your son has a fabulous birthday!!!!!!

Paintball or laser tag.
My husband and I have a DJ Service with lights. That might be fun. There are several testimonies on here and there are more plus pictures on our website at www.1stclassdjservice.net. Mamasource customers receive 10% off and birthdays are less than weddings. We can do it for $150.00 an hour. You can reach us through here, through the company email, ____@____.com, or call his cell Chad @ ###-###-####. Whatever you decide I hope it is a wonderful party. They grow up too fast.
