18Month Fell and Pushed Tooth Back in Gums

Yesterday my 18 month daughter fell on her face/mouth and pushed back one of her front teeth (possible the tooth next to it too) back in her gums a little. I took her to the pedi dentist and they said that it was nothing they could do now and for me to watch it for nerve damage. They said that it should not affect her perminent teeth. Today her top lip is swollen and bruised underneath. I called a pedi oral surgeon today and they said that I should ice her lip...and they said that her teeth might go back to normal after 6 weeks. If you experienced this I would love to hear how it turned out. Thanks

What can I do next?

This also happened to my daughter 5 years ago when she was 2. Her front tooth was pushed all the way into her gum. I took her to an oral surgeon who also did nothing. Her tooth did come back down within a year, but it was backwards. Yes the tooth twisted. I was also told to watch for nerve damage. (blackening of the tooth). I never noticed anything except her tooth looked snaggled. She has since lost that tooth, and she now has her permanent front teeth, but that tooth is very discolored. I took her to the dentist, and they have recommended lumineer treatments. Well I looked into them and they run around 1000.00 bucks a pop. I am going to have it done, but I was told to wait another yr or so because her teeth have not fully set yet. meaning that they are not fully grown in. could have fooled me cause they look like they are. Good luck eventually her tooth will reappear, but I cannot say in what condition. It's nothing that a little dental work can't correct, but you just have to play the waiting game until she looses it and her adult teeth come in to tell if there is any permanent damage.

This happened to my youngest brother when we were kids. His tooth came back in a little discolored because of nerve damage and when it was time for his permanent tooth to come in, they had to pull the baby tooth because it wouldn't fall out on it's own. He never had any problems with it and he still has a great smile today.

Ouch, my daughter did the same thing when she was 4 years old, her gum above her 2 front teeth bruised and swelled, after x-rays we found that the root had broken and the had to extract both teeth, it took 2 1/2 years for the permenate teeth to come in, but things turned out fine

My son was 2 when the same thing happened to him, he was not old enough to cooperate for an xray, so they told me just to watch it. It finally fell out and the new tooth came in. It is a little crooked but the dentist said he is going to need braces anyway. I hope this may help to calm your nerves a little!
