I have about 2 weeks left to get everything in order and all I can think of is "what the heck did I pack with # 1???." Major brain fart if you please. ;-) I've packed for myself: one pair of non-maternity jeans (here's hoping), two tops, one sleeping/nursing bra, one nursing/sports bra, tooth brush, tooth paste, brush, shampoo, conditioner, make-up bag, lanolin oil and boppy pillow.

For baby - two onesies, diapers, coming home outfit w/ headbead bow, blanket

Should I take my breastpump? yes - no?

What else??? HELP!!!!

My son is only 5 y/o and for some reason I feel dumber than I did when I had him. Pregger brain really sucks! TIA!!!

TIA!

What can I do next?

I felt better than I thought I would the day after having my son. I was so happy when I realized my husband had thrown my blowdryer and all my hair products in the bag (Yes my husband packed the bag while I was in Very active labor at home. I wasn't exactly prepared two weeks early.) I felt so good to know the next day that my hair looked great when we had visitors up to the hospital. I felt like a hot moma...well as much as you can the day after giving birth! :)

A camera!

Also, the hospital normally provides all the diapers while you are there and lets you take what is in the bassinet with you when you go so although you may want some in the car I wouldn't take any to the hospital with you. They also handle all the clothing the baby will need during his/her stay and a pacifier. Be sure the carseat is in the care you will be bringing the baby home in.

I would also pack one pair of materinity jeans because even if you fit in your regular jeans, the maternity ones will be much more comfortable and you don't want to find out they don't fit and not have something else to wear. Unless you want to wear the hospital gown I would also suggest a night gown and robe especially if you want to get up and walk cause you don't want your behind showing. I would also pack a snack or two. Deodorant.

A special gift to give the 5yr old from the baby when he comes to visit.

do you REALLY need a make up bag? I would pack a hair tie and have my hair in a ponytail the whole time. ha ha
Congrats on #2...that little stinker!! (pun intended ;)

Maybe a story book or small game to play with #1 when he comes to visit? :)

I agree no jeans :) Take a pair of yoga type pants instead. I had pjs that had pants and a top that I could button down to wear while at the hospital. Plenty of undies and possibly your own feminine hygeine products. The pads they make you wear are huge.

I also brought a few movies. I had a hard time sleeping and the TV programs in the middle of the night stink. So some DVDs were helpful.

I also brought some swaddlers for babies. The blankets they have are not very soft and I stunk at swaddling. I also loves the shirts that snap over so I bought several of those to put on them instead of onesies. You may also want to bring baby socks.

The last thing I would suggest is slippers. Pack one bra for leaving but otherwise live free and easy while you can.

COMFY PANTS!!! Comfy jammies that you feel comfy roaming hospital halls in should you need to.
Breastpump-heck no! :)
Daddy essentials: toothbrush, deoderant, pj's he can wear in front of nurses coming in and out :) , clean t-shirts to change into.
Camera, video camera.
Baby book/journal. W/ both of mine I had down time to fill in book (1 babe in nursery, 1 never left the room).
Make-up (unless you are one of those beauties who looks great w/o it...I am not).
HAIR DRYER...again, unless you don't typically need it.
Razor and shaving cream (IDK about you, but the post birth shower is WONDERFUL and even though I was in a lot of pain, I wanted smooth legs!)
Snacks for Daddy! They feed Mom!
Present for Big Bro'!
Thank you's for your nurses.
HTH!
Congrats!!!

I'm coming to the end of my pregnancy also and personally I would say screw any type of jeans. I'm packing comfy pants!!! As far as the breast pump goes, your milk probably won't be in til after you get home anyways so you shouldn't really need it. One thing I wish I had packed last time and didn't was something to eat after I had the baby. She was born around midnight so the kitchen was closed and I was starving after being in labor all day.

Good Luck to you!!!

I brought my favorite blanket, and slippers, bath robe, fuzzy socks, dont forget hair gel too, if you use it, I was sad when I forgot it.

For baby bring pacifiers if you are going to use them, depending on how long you are staying at the hospital, may want to bring baby more onesies, because we ran out.

Congrats on the new baby!

Sorry to tell you this, but put the jeans back in the drawer. It takes most of us weeks to fit into those again! My belly took longer to spring back after each pregnancy :( Bring something that fit you early in your pregnancy- when you 1st started wearing maternity clothes.
Also, a few snacks and your own night gown and robe- if your breastfeeding, you can get a nursing gown.
You won't need the breast pump or the diapers.
I really liked Lynn M's idea about the gift for the 5 year old. When I had my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, my husband brought the kids in the hospital giftshop to pick out a small stuffed animal for the baby. My 2nd is almost 8 now, and the stuffed mouse he got from his big brother is his favorite possession. He still sleeps with it. Knowing he got it when he was born, makes it more special to him. My 3rd is now 6, and the stuffed dog his big bros gave him is also his most special stuffy- also still sleeps with it. My daughter (now 3) got a stuffed kitten from her big brothers, but doesn't seem especially attatched to it :( Her brothers are still proud that they gave it to her :)
