My son is turning 2 on Jan 21, 2006. January is such an iffy time and we want to plan our party ahead of time. Chuck E Cheese type place make me very nervous as rowdy kids are everywhere. We did a home party last year but got lucky because the weather was beautiful. It was a LOT of work, though. I would like some suggestions on places we could have a party.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

THanks for all the suggestions. We ended up at Chuck E Cheeses (against my will)! Awful awful awful. The party hostesses were rude, we were rushed and did not have nearly enough room for 20 kids and parents. I have vowed to never return and expressed that to them. Until he is old to ask for otherwise, we will be be having all of our parties at home.

Not sure what side of town: Firestation Museum downtown (Milam St) is great for young and old. Bellaire's Nature Discovery center is another good one.

Hi. I hired a master magician named Philip Kampf. He was funny and my kids and their friends had a blast. Visit his website: www.magicstreetproductions.com
He also did a lot of audience participation and that was fun for them. Hope this help.

There are some new places around town. One is called Inflatable Zone. It is kind of a moonwalk, and other type games for young children. Also there are Gymboree type places with in ground trampolines and games they place with little ones.

Get over it. You can't keep your precious ones in a 'bubble' to protect them. Go to Chuck 'E' Cheese for your SON's sake! He may toughen up around some other kids having fun! Besides, the party is for HIM to enjoy, too, not only for the parents - let a kid be a kid! NO TEA PARTY for the BOY!

I don't know what part of town you live in but you may want to try a toddler play area. We went to a nice birthday party at Toddler Town in Friendswood a few weeks ago. The only people there were the invited guests so it was not crowded at all. The staff served the cake and did all the clean up. Basically, Toddler Town is a huge indoor play area with both indoor and outdoor type toys - lots of Little Tikes brand stuff. There is a (similar?) place called Tumbling Toddlers in Seabrook but I have never been there.

My daughter turns 2 on 1/5. We are having her party at Chuck E Cheese. She likes it! However, this was my second choice. I was planning a home party (my sisters come from out-of-town to help) with the Tumblebus as the entertainment. I used them before in Tyler, TX for my son's 4th bday. They bring the bus to your house that has been outfitted with gymnastics equipment. It is like a mobile "My Little Gym" class. It is good for 2-4 year olds. After that, they start to get too tall for the equipment. But the guy that services West Houston was in ICU just before Christmas and will not be released to activities in time for my party. However, he may be well for your party. It is Tumblebus of Texas, Darren, ###-###-####. Another place recommended to me was the Children's Museum of Art. It is like a "Discovery Zone". They contacted me on details, but it was not what I wanted at the time. She said it is approriate for 18 mo-teenage. There are all types of interactive activities. I did a party like this for my son at the Ocean Institute in California. He was turning 5 and they had a blast, even the parents. There are also all the space jump type places (Pump It Up, Monkey Bizness, Jumping Jaks, etc.) but they can be rowdy too depending on if the parties are separated. PIU only has your party in the play area during your designated time.
Good Luck!

I have a 9 year old daughter and we've had luck with Mad Potter & Build a Bear Workshop. There's also the Children's Museum. Good luck.
