It sounds like she might be too old for the swaddle & you might want to try a night without it and see how it goes. My son started doing the same thing at 1mo. and was much happier when we stopped swaddling him.
hi -
My 3 month old falls asleep and stays asleep VERY well (5 minutes to fall asleep ~8:30PM and does not wake up until 8:00-8:30 AM). However when she is sleeping she will kick her legs a lot (bring her legs up and hit them down on the mattress) and bring her arms out of swaddle waving them around. I have also heard her make some whiny noises in her sleep. I have also noticed that she seems to sleep a lot during the day (e.g. will be awake for 1.5-2 hours at a time then fall asleep for 45 minute nap and repeat this cycle. Is it normal to move around so much at night and is it normal to sleep so much during the day at 3 months?
THANKS! :0)
thanks everyone for sharing your stories and letting me know that my dd's sleep patterns do sound "normal" :0)

my son slept from 9 till 9 then would eat.... stay up 1 hour or so.. sleep for a 2 hour nap in the a.m. wake up lunch... play a little.. and sleep again for 3 hours.. then dinner.. play a little.. sleep 9 to 9.... he is now 14 and still a big sleeper.. my daughter.. she took 2 .... 20 min naps.. and she would sleep 11 to 7.... she is now 12 and sleep.. she just doesn't need it.. to funny.....
Yes I think both of those things are pretty normal. Babies at this age need between 12-16 hours of sleep so that seems right on track. She might have a little gas but babies are really noisy sleepers. Try swaddling tighter but if the kicking doesn't wake her up the it really isn't an issue. I love those little noises babies make in their sleep :)
She's probably still working into her own pattern... she sounds perfectly normal! My little one does the same thing!
Hi A.,
all of this sounds very normal. our baby will need naps throughout the day for a long time (just fewer and fewer naps gradually), for good brain development.
Sounds like she is doing great!

hey girl - yep, that is definately normal :) my 4 month old is about the same - we put her to bed after her last bottle, between 8 & 9, then i have to wake her up at 7, so we can get my two older boys to school. she is usually awake for 1.5-2 hrs, then needs a nap again - i try to get her 1 long 3 hr nap a day, which can be tough to do with older kids that have activities, etc. some kids move around more in their sleep, while others stay very still - my oldest sleeps like a rock & doesn't move, while my middle guy move around a ton, and even sleep walks sometimes. the baby seems to be a bit of a restless sleeper so far - i can't sleep in the same room with her, because she wakes me up all the time!
sounds like your little one is right on track - good job mama! :)
hugs!
