My daughter was diagnosed with this condition when she was 4. I was devistated at what she would have to go through just for the diagnosis. It seemed so invasive. The constant use of antibiotics also scared me. I tried to talk her doctor into just monitoring her condition and trying to prevent UTI's through nutrition and avoiding baths, etc. He was persistent about following the traditional treatment of antibiotics. Now that she is a healthy 14 year old with no lasting effects of the reflux, I am so thankful that I trusted my pediatritian and allowed him to diagnose and treat her in the traditional manner. Looking back, I am just grateful that what she had was treatable and that her body outgrew it. She has rarely needed antibiotics since, (occasional strep throat) but we have no issues with resistance to antibiotics and her immune system is stronger than most kids. Good luck, and I hope my story gives you some confidence in what you're doing for her!
