Sounds like acid reflux, heart burn,. which is very common when you get big pg, and especially with twins. Call or go see the OB and see what they say.
This is my 3rd pregnancy and i have never experienced the feling where you can't breath. I think I am experiencing it now. My chest hurts, it's a constant pain, like in my upper abdomen, lower chest (under my breast). Did anyone experience this and was there anything to relieve it. I got 1 hour of sleep last night, which was after I got in the hot shower at 4 am. Thanks!

The babies are pressing up against your diaphragm because they're running out of room ;) Your diaphragm is the muscle (exactly where you described) that pushes the air out of your lungs when you breathe. Lay on your left side; this allows the blood to flow through you and the babies better, and will help pump blood oxygen through your body better. If it gets to be a sudden, sharp, stabbing pain (like someone is impaling you with a white hot fire poker), call your doc ASAP.
Congrats! You're almost there :)
Congrats on the 34 weeks! I made it to about 36 weeks and mine weighed 5lbs 10 oz and 6 lbs even! Of course this was 8 years ago! I do remember my baby B-Hayley always being way up there and towards the end I remember at times I would have that issue until they moved back down a bit. I can remember her pushing into my left rib I would have to literally press down until she would move back down and away from my rib. Baby A-Shaylah she was actually born with a tendency to have her head to one side and we had to do excercises with her neck/head so that she didn't "favor" the one side. She was so compressed down there-poor baby! Anyways to relieve it I never did figure anything out but I never really complained to the doctor about either because I just thought it was normal and nothing you could do ....but call your OB and let them know and just ask to see if there are any suggestions??? You never know it might just help ;()) Good luck sweetie be prepared for the best time of your life! I know it's your third pregnancy but you will see what I mean-its hard at times but oh so rewarding! Hang in there you are almost done. I remember how miserable I was at 36 weeks but I had wished I had gone longer but they were absolutely healthy no NICU no nothing and had I gone any longer I can't even imagine-I'm a small girl but very tall but very petite. Good luck with your delivery and recovery ;()) Such a blessing!
Hi L., While I did not have twins I experienced shortness of breath and all kinds of rib pain.....Hang in there you are carrying to and now those babies are gaining the weight :)
I am assuming you have to check with your doctor regularly now...Mention it and have your blood pressure checked and your pulse taken.....Congratulations this too shall pass!!
You need to contact your ob just to make sure you are ok. I had the same pains begining around 32 weeks-they just ran out of room. Hang in there it is allmost over!!
Get on your hands and knees and let gravity work for you. It will allow you to breathe comfortably. I also heard that holding your arms/hands above your head helps to stretch you up and give you more room to breathe.
Congratulations on making it so far!! Best is to consult your doctor or call your helpline for advise in this matter. Yes, left side pose helps, also a dog pose on the rug on all your fours might help ease your over-stretched abdomen. Do not take very hot showers for too long, heat might cause discomfort to your foetuses. Hang in there, another few weeks and your pregnancy will be behind you! Praying for a smooth delivery and healthy babies!!
I had twins 6 yrs ago and I delivered at 34.5 weeks. Both were born healthy.
So, my twin girls are now nearly nine months old and healthy, happy babies. I delivered at 2 days shy of 38 weeks and they were 6lbs 14oz and 7lbs 11oz. The last few weeks of pregnancy, the only decent sleep I got was in the recliner half-inclined. I collected nearly every pillow in the house and would build myself a fort of sorts. Even that was good for only two hours of sleep or so. Of course, there's the frequent peeing.... I see it as training for the sleepless nights once the babies come home. Best of luck to you.
I really think you need to talk to your OB about this. First, you are higher risk because of the twins... congrats on making this far!
I have a feeling, though, that it is just that they are running out of room....
Again, PLEASE talk to your OB about this... they may have some suggestions on how to handle these last weeks. Ultimately, that is what you are paying them for.....
