does anyone know where in the east valley one can get a 3D ultrasound and around how much that costs? for those who have done it, is it worth the price? (i am assuming it is expensive.) i am at 28 weeks and i hear about now is the best time.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

well, after thinking it over and having been to the doc, she wants me to have another ultrasound (30 weeks) so i get one on tuesday. maybe i can squeeze a 3D out of them if they are capable of it. either way, i am excited i get another look! we also realized that we should put that money toward things we would need like car seat, crib etc..
thanks for all your input!!

Hi L.,
Congratulations! I didn't actually go to have one done because my chiropractor didn't have any ultrasounds done since his theory was that ultrasounds get really really warm for the baby. The less you do the better. Well, I had to have a special one done in the beginning because there was a high risk chance and they did a 3D/4D one automatically, really early on. It's a neat concept - she looked like an alien, but it was cool to see her limbs in detail. She had her face covered a lot. My advice is to skip spending the money on that, and use it to hire a professional photographer for a Newborn Photography Session. The images from baby's first session are so special because they tell the story of your special new relationship. And your favorite(s) will look great enlarged and framed to display in the baby's room, or even as a custom gallery wrap wall canvas! You can even use some to send out as birth announcements and/or baby shower thank yous. I'm a photographer in the East Valley, and I come out on location for Newborn sessions. This is especially convenient for new moms that can relax in their own environment while they are still getting used to being parents and baby is getting used to his/her new world. and let me know what you think! Have you had maternity photos taken? Good luck & feel free to give me a call! L.

We went to Dr. Nyberg at Fetal and Women's Center in North Scottsdale. Dr. Nyberg is wonderful. Insurance paid most of it.

Hi L.,

The Perinatal & Women's Center has four locations in the valley: Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, and Glendale.

I too am 36 and had to go a couple weeks ago for the Nuchal Translucency Screen. They were very helpful and knowledable. I am not sure of the cost, it was part of the group of tests needed to look for Downs Syndrome so I was going to do it anyway. I am sure they will give you a ball park cost when you call, but they do ask who is the referring doctor so you may want to talk to your obgyn.

Hope this helps. Phone number: ###-###-####.

I had my 3D ultrasound at Phoenix Perinatal Associates. They have an office in Mesa on Baseline/Country Club. I"m high risk and have had several 3D UA's. I'm 28 weeks and just had one on Monday. It's cool but does cost approx. $280. and my little one wasn't cooperating so we didn't see as much as we'd like. IF you have the extra money I'd say go for it, but if not, you may just want to wait a few more weeks to see your bundle of joy in person!

Hi I went to miracle view ultrasound in Scottsdale. I don't remember how much we paid but it was around $250. They have several packages so you can do it with less money. I have to admit what I liked about it is that I could visually see that the baby was fine, 10 figures, 10 toes no cleft palate. However the tech did notice something wrong with my sons ear and she did let my doctor know. She did not tell us because its for entertainment value only but she was good enough to tell my doctor who told me. It was this ultrasound that we learned he had a condition of microtia which means small ear and for my son he just has a lobe for his left ear. I couldn't thank them enough for telling my doctor so we were prepared for this birth defect and I can't tell you how much I believed it helped us out. Now this was just our experience and his condition is rare so I do not want to worry you at all. But to me I feel the 3D ultrasounds give you a nice peek at to what your baby looks like and 99.99% of time will give you piece of mind that they are just fine. But on a really positive note, during the ultrasound my son had his arm over his head the whole time which we thought was cute and guess what, he laid down the same way for the first 3 months. SO it gives you this picture of their little quirks once they are born which I think is fun. Good luck

We used Geddes Imaging in Mesa. At the time it was located at Dobson and Guadalupe. I just googled it and it said that there was a location in Gilbert. Not sure if the other one moved or not.

We used this company for both of our children. With our son we asked that they did not reveal the sex and they held true to their word and we didn't find out what we were having. We already knew with our daughter, so that wasn't an issue the second time around. We received a video and pictures for our session. The cost was under $150. There were different packages to choose from. Here is a link to the website I found: http://www.geddeskeepsake.com/contact.html

I thought the cost was worth it and I love to watch the video. They put music to the video and it was really neat. I hope this helps! Good luck and Congratulations on your pregnancy.

L.,
We had a great experience at Geddes Imaging Center. I can't remember the exact location of the facility and when I went to look it up for you their web page for the directions was down. Here is the link to the corporate web site and hopefully when you look it up it will be fixed. We loved our time there and they were very accomodating to my little boy and husband. Hope this helps.

L.,

If you look in any of the pregnancy magazines there are ads in there about where to get the 3D ultrasounds. I had one a couple years ago, but I can't remember exactly where it was (somewhere around Chandler Blvd. and Dobson). I can't remember how much it cost either, but whatever it was, was so worth the money. You can watch your baby in your belly with sweet music while you await the arrival of your little miracle!

I don't know of any places but I was looking at the approximate prices people were giving you and from my experience that is actually a bit cheeper than just a regular ultrasound, at least cheeper than the place I had been sent to. Cost was $300 and that was only the basic regular ultrasound... No fun 3D pics... Just thought I would reassure you with that. I'm thinking that I might like to do one of these 3D ones too. Good luck finding a good place & price.
