Hello Moms!
Ok, here's a fun one. I'm 32 wks pregnant with our second child and apparently the baby is sitting right on my pudendal nerve (the nerve that supplies the "saddle" region). Anyway, for the past several weeks it's been noticable and uncomfortable, but for the past few days it's been downright painful and I'm getting pretty frustrated. It's like the whole left side of my crotch is constantly on fire! Standing on one leg is impossible and every time I change positions the pain literally takes my breath away. I never experienced pelvic or low back pain during my first pregnancy, but this one is really taking it's toll. I'm totally at my wits end!
I walk every day, do yoga and in fact, I'm a chiropractor and have not been able to find any relief for myself! ARGH! If anyone has experienced anything similar, please advise!
Thank you all so much, be well.

Hi I am a chiro too and 21 weeks prego with #2. congrats.
Have you tried Webster Technique, Logan technique, adjusting the pubic bone, fixing round and sacrotuborous ligs, or psoas muscles? If not I would be glad to help you with all of that to help with you pain. I am Webster Certified and have taken all but 1 of the ICPA classes in pediatrics and pregnancy ( the last class is in dec and then i'll take the exam for board certification)Let me know if you are interested in help from a fellow female chiro or if you have any questions. I am in Villa Park.

The same exact thing happend to me. It sucks big time. I cried to everyone I could think of. I finally got relief when I went to a chiro. He did not crack my back. He actually massaged by lower back and down my butt into my leg while I laid on my side. The muscles were getting tight in response to the relaxtin hormone in your body that stretches you out before delivery. Let me tell you after about 3 times it was a miracle. I could walk again. It was talking 45 minutes to walk down 6 stairs prior. That is how bad the pain was. If you don't know a chiro or can't find one that will see you when you are pregnant, let me know I will give you his info. Plus most insurance cover this. I was only paying about $10 a visit.

Have you heard of Emotional Freedom Techniques?
EFT is an effective technique endorsed by Dr Mercola, Dr Bruce Lipton & others. It's a version of acupressure where certain meridian points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with your fingertips. The sequence moves the energy caused by emotions such as fear, anger, sadness etc. out of the body. It has been taught in Chicago hospitals~Swedish Covenant and Ressurection on Talcott to name a couple~and at wellness centers by doctors and hypnotherapists. Emofree.com has a wealth of info including case histories. You can search relief of pregnancy discomfort.
I use it personally and professionally. I have found the combination of EFT and hypnosis can frequently offer immediate relief of emotional and physical symptoms.

I have not had the same experience, and you are probably doing this, but the best thing that has helped me get the baby to move is the cat/cow yoga poses.

Another thing you probably do is sit forward on chairs-my chiropractor just recommended it to me because I have a posterior baby-which does add to back pain (all three times).

Otherwise I recommend using a rice bag or flax bag, heating it in the microwave for a few minutes and using that to relax the muscles. I do this nightly.

Good luck!

I wish I wish I could tell you that it will go away but it won't until you have the baby. You can go to physical therapy or a chiro... but I don't know how much it will help. I had the exact same thing and my doc said it was because my pregnancies were so close together. My son and daughter are 13 months apart. I know it is really painful and I wish there was something I could tell you to do... but your not the only one who has had this problem. My friend who is also prego with her second has had the same thing. So just try to relax and take it easy... I know easier said than done with another one around! Good luck!

Sorry to be a downer but I had this as well as severe shoulder pain that radiated down my back. The Dr said the baby was sitting on a nerve and there was really nothing that would relieve it. He was right and nothing helped, and I tried everything. But you know what, it was immediately gone after delivery and every minute was worth it. Hang in there you'll have a beautiful baby in return! Sorry no good advice.

I feel for you because I know how painful this can be!! I had the same problem with all of my pregnancies when I got near the end. The only relief I was able to find was sitting on a heating pad (only for a short time), but mostly I just leaned back in my recliner to help take the pressure off. I also wore a maternity support belt which helped too.

Good luck and hang in there...you're almost done!

One of my pregnancies was very similar. I even asked the Dr if he ever had a patient actually break their pelvic bone!? I could NOT even get my pants on while standing, because like you said, it was tooo painful to stand on one leg.

Unfortunately, nothing helped long term. When I went swimming it helped but only while I was in the pool.

After I had him it took only a few days until I could actually put my pants on again standing up. The rest of the pain went away immediately. Plus, we were pregnant again only 6 months later and I was panicked about the pain coming back. Luckily, it was a painless pegnancy! So, just know that this is an "isolated" problem and does not mean it will happen every time :)

I had lots of lower back pain, as well as major sciatic nerve pain. I went to a chiroproactor, had weekly massage, and physical therapy twice a week, for the third trimester. The only thing that helped was delivering the baby, which actually was really nice because the pain of delivery didn't even compare to the three months of pain I had already endured. Sorry I can't help with more, but hope it gets better. I also used a wearable therma care heat pad as it didn't get hot enough to cause problems, and my OB gave it the ok.
