My son would scream when I put him on his stomach and I thought he would never change. I did it twice a day for as long as he could handle (a couple minutes). Now he is six months and is stronger (because of the exercise) and LOVES being on his stomach! I never thought this would happen. He hasnt turned yet but I know he will eventually so who cares! Every baby is different :)

My first child wasn't really rolling over until 7 months.. and by nine months he was walking all by himself, straight across the room.
Each child of mine progressed differently, but they all hated tummy time... and rolling over seemed to be late compared to the charts...
and I had to force tummy time with all my babies....2x a day. First it was just a couple of minutes..(As they screamed) and worked my way up to 20 minutes, by 7 months.
When they finally liked tummy time, they were into rolling a little.

Totally normal. Even if it takes another couple of months, she'll get there...

Hi S.,

I wouldn't worry. I do not know many babies who like tummy time. I would just keep trying it for a few minutes a few times a day. I would play on the floor with my babies and try to gently roll them over back and forth slowly so they can get the concept. Some babies take longer then others to roll over. A good trick for tummy time is to put some toys in front of her and talk to her to distract her while she is on her belly. Most babies do hate it so don't worry.

My daughter rolled the day after her six month appointment. Give her time!

Hi S.,

don't worry, that is absolutely normal. You can help her a bit with both. Roll a towel and put it under her chest for tummy time, this gives her a little bit more free movement. Play with her while she is on the tummy, but start slowly time-wise. On the first day 2 minutes 3 times a day is fine and expand from that. Make being on the tummy fun! Also, help her rolling over several times a day and over time try to help her less and less.

I remember that when my daughter was 4 1/2 months (it was just when I went back to work after maternity leave), she had rolled over once or twice and it was almost accidental. She also hated tummy time and she had to do it a lot b/c she had torticollis (basically, a stiff neck) and had to get physical therapy. Most kids don't love playing on their stomach at that age b/c it's hard for them to lift their head up, but that's exactly why it's good for them! To strenghten their arms and necks. You can try putting her on your lap for tummy time... or if you lie (lay??) down on your back and put your daughter on her stomach on your stomach, she might like it better.
