Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone out there has a great idea for a party venue here in Allen or close by for my hubby's 40th birthday? It will be early June, so I'm not sure if outside is a really great idea or a really horrible idea! I've checked in to Top Golf, but that is about $100(+) per person. There will be roughly 40 people there so you can imagine that is not ideal. I'm a stay at home mom and don't really have an income to speak of...I'm scraping together cash here and there.
A little about him...he's athletic (on a bicycle racing team) and although we're not against drinking, it's not a focus at all.

Thanks for any ideas. :)

So What Happened?

**Edit**
THANK YOU so much for the great ideas. Having the people come to the house may work, but it's a very last resort. My husband finds it very stressful to have a house full of people so for his big day, I'd like it to be as stress free as possible. Going to a pool or HOA clubhouse is a fantastic idea except that we don't have a neighborhood pool. Do other neighborhoods allow non residents to use their clubhouse/pool for a higher cost perhaps? That's a great idea to look into. Whirlyball...broomball...those sound extremely fun too. We will have food and drinks...I just don't want to have his party in a bar is what I meant. I appreciate all of your help. :)

What about renting out a pool for the afternoon. I know when my brother was younger, the pool at Ford Middle School was a favorite to rent out for his bday.

Also, maybe Splitsville??? But not sure if it'll hold a party of that size. The Allen Event Center is always holding events. Maybe look into what's going on over there during that time of year. At my husband's 40th bday party, I took him, some family and a few friends to the Allen American hockey game at the Allen Event Center. But, a hockey game in June won't be an option...but, like I said, there's always something going on over there.

Have you thought about a comedy club? or even just a get-together at your house.

I'd go back to top Golf because that does not sound right.

My daughter, her boyfriend and friends go there often and have never spent $100 per person. I think they paid a lifetime membership for $35 and each game is $6.

Now, it might be $100 per person if you are buying everyone lifetime memberships and including some special extras but that still sounds a bit high to me. It is a popular spot!

The Allen Event center has different things going on all the time, concerts, etc. They may even rent space for a party.

Splitsville is also a fun place to go.

If you are that strapped for cash, hold a theme party at your house!

Have fun.

How about Whirlyball? It's like $150 an hour -- totally fun!! You could also check into one of the ice skating rinks to do Broom ball...another super fun thing! I just had my 40th last month and we did a party at home -- a Wig and Wine party with appetizers catered in! Everyone wears a wig and brings a bottle of wine! Though most people drank my liquor! LOl so we said next time we would do a wig and well party!! Anyway -- just a few ideas! Good luck!

Like another responder, my first thought was also Splitsville. But really, if his birthday is early June and you expect that many guests, why not just either (1) do a BBQ at home or (2) rent a local party room--HOA pool area?

Even tho you may not want to concentrate on drinking with that many people, I would think that a physical activity would not allow you and your guests to enjoy being together and celebrating the occasion. One can never go wrong with food and drink (alcohol or not). Just some thoughts.
