Humidifier in her room and a cup of water so she can take drinks if her throat gets dry from coughing. I don't give any meds for a cough.
My 5 year old has a cold with a cough. I was wondering what I could give her to ease her symptoms so that she can get some sleep at night. Thanks!
Thank everyone so much!!! Well I gave her a nice hot bath, rubbed her feet and chest with vicks, water at bedside, propped her head up, and some honey. Hope it works!! Thanks!

Humidifier, Vicks rub, a teaspoon or so of honey for the cough, and water by the bed. It's been found that medicines don't do anything to help.
Prop up her pillows so she is sleeping a bit upright. Put a humidifier in her room.
I buy a vicks type product that I put on my kids chest. It opens up their nose and helps with the coughing.
I usually give my daughter a little spoonful of honey and also keep water next to the bed so when she does wake up with a coughing attack she can have a drink real quick. I've also tried the Vicks type product but I rub a little on her feet and put socks on, it didn't really seem to help but maybe it will for your daughter.
Hang in there! The cough always seems to be the worst part of a cold!
I do try and go the natural route as well buy if all else fails I have found mucinex cold and cough for kids does a good job at calming the cough. My daughter is 5 yrs as well. Hope she feels better!
