Hi,
I've been trying to get my 6 month old to eat solids and she just keeps refusing. My first child gobbled up anything I put in front of him. Any tricks to get my little one to eat?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

what's your hurry? she's just not ready yet. it's totaly normal. the later you start solids, the better for her digestive track anyway. let her enjoy her milk/formula.

My daughter was the same way. I think it's a texture issue. We started cereal at 4 mos and it didn't take. So I stopped for a couple weeks. And still nothing. So I waited about 6 more weeks and she's into it now. Stop for a week or 2 and just give the bottle and then try again.

Babies don't NEED solids in the first year as long as they are thriving on breastmilk. Solids are only comlimentary to nursing, so don't push her. She'll let you know when she's ready. :)

Hello M.!

When my 5 year old was an infant he LOVED solids! Anything & everything...any color...any flavor! My 1 year old is sooo mcuh fussier :(

He ate solids much later than my 1st child & dislikes so many more things...I have come to the conclusion YES! They really are two different people. Sometimes it is so hard as a Mom not to compare a first child's timelines to the next! But I think my son...just like your 6 mth old daughter is just a little fussier :)

As long as she is formula or breastfeeding normally...I would say perhaps to try again in a few weeks! Are you at the rice cereal stage or are you trying veggies? My ped recommended Yellow veggies first, then Orange veggies, the Green veggies. He said that in that order babies are more receptive to solids as their taste buds get used to bland to stronger flavors. He advised me not to do fruits until we got the veggies down pat...because it is common for babies to fall in love with the sweet taste of fruit then reject their veggies. I don't know how true any of this is (LOL) but I did it! I am sure everyone does it a little different so I am eager to hear more responses!

Good luck & before you know it she'll be gobbling up everything in sight!!!!!!!!
