6 Year Old Daughters Birthday

If the weather holds up I will be having my daughters 6 year old party outside in April. If not the children will be in a somewhat small house. Does anyone have any party game ideas for both outside and inside. I suspect there will be anywhere from 6 - 8 children attending. Thanks.

What can I do next?

Hi Trisha. I am the mother of 4 girls and one boy ages 7-21. One of my girls favorites was to play musical presents. Put on some music, sit in a circle, and pass the presents around. When the music stops, the present in the birthday girls lap gets opened. Little girls have loved Simon Says-- just use the birthday girls' name to change it to Party girl says. My girls also loved the trash can game. Make a circle around a trash can or barrel or laundry basket and hold hands. Everyone pulls and whoever touches the object sits out. See who can be last. Hope these ideas help. Have fun! Elizabeth

T., go to birthdaypartyideas.com, they have great ideas! You may want to pick a theme, and then work the party around the theme. This year we had a tea party theme for my daughter's 8th birthday party. I like to do a craft first, then eat, then a few games, open presents and have cake. The party is usually 2 hours long.
Have fun!

Hello I am a event planner in Lansing for Precious Planning www.preciousplanning.org. Yes with April having such unpredictable weather to entertain about (8), 6 year olds, I would suggest something universal that can be outside or inside such as an magician, interactive children's theatre, clowns, costume characters, face painters, you could do an interactive game show, where kids win all kinds of age appropriate prizes, candy to name a few. Some outside only options, I'm always a fan of the moonwalks/bouncers, children always love that, or interactive carnivale games. I am also a big fan of themed events, you can go with the tea party theme, All-american girl theme, again to name a few. I am not sure what your budget is for the party, but if you would like assistance in creating a theme, for you daughter, I would love to help, just give Precious Planning a call and an event planner will assist you ###-###-####. Hope this helps.

treasure hunt with photo clues works indoors or out but you need to take the pics in advance then hide the next clue at the next site. Give the kids clue 1 which will take them to clue 2 to clue 3 etc and finally a treasure chest of prizes themed around your party. My kids love this! Also try hot potato/ pass the parcel. When the music stops the person holding the parcel either gets a prize or has to do a forfeit. The person left at the end gets a prize.

I'm an after-school program leader and in order to do a 6 year old party the only thing you need to do is continuously be high-energy. Fill up on coffee b4 hand and just keep moving. The children will vibe off your energy, and all the games and ideas that you have researched will quickly turn into the most fun and fantastic games ever. Go with the flow. At each and everything I plan and do I overthink myself. Don't let that happen to you.

For my daughters 5th birthday, we did crafts. At a good dollar store you can find beads and rope, to make necklaces and bracelets. They normally have good craft stuff, so it wont cost a ton.

Hi T. - I'm a grandmother and my children have used their favorite party activity with their children now. We make a fish pond game by placing a curtain across a doorway using a tension rod - make a small fishing pole with a clip on the end, then the kids take turns fishing over the "ocean curtain". Somebody behind the curtain has a basket of dollar store things and clips one to each line as it comes over. The kids ALWAYS love this game and it can go on for a long time, depending on how many "fish" you have to give out. I think six is a good age for it. Have fun at your party!! D.

One of the best activities I have tried at a young girls' birthday party is cookie decorating. I baked the cookies ahead and laid out a plastic tablecloth, provided sprinkles of all kinds and some icing and let them design 2 cookies. One was consumed after we took a picture of the girl with her artistic accomplishment. The second cookie was sent home as a party favor. The photos were printed afterward and on the back we wrote a quick thank you note and sent them to the guests. Hope this helps.

For out side tie die would be cool. Have them bring a bear or a doll and make matching shirts (if it all girls that is). Also, you can google ideas on the web.
Have a fun time!!!
