If she likes the baby swings maybe you could try her in one for the night just until she starts feeling better.
My youngest daughter is 7 1/2 months old, she is teething I think? she has one tooth so I figure its the other bugging her. She was sleeping fine, 8+ hours uninteruppted, but now she wakes every 15 min to one hour. She isnt too fussy in the day time unless she's been up 3+ hours and needs a nap. She eats an assortment of solids and still breastfeeds, and isnt hungry at bedtime, we have the routine of bath & winding down, Ive given her gripe water, baby advil or baby tylenol, but still she fusses all night and during naps, unable to stay asleep. she is also still swaddled because her busy little hands wont stay down and she sleeps better this way. she wont settle at all without that. any ideas what else I can do, its driving me crazy to not sleep!!

Dear J.:
Baby advil and baby tylenol, have 3 strong stimulants in them that can keep an adult awake. Use something natural for the teething is necessary and the problem will most likely go away.

It could just be a phase that she's going through. But, what about trying to not swaddle her? My B. is 7 1/2 months old, too, and I swaddled her until she was about 3 months... and she just got so frustrated with her arms to her side that she'd wake herself up. Right now, my B. loves the freedom of being able to roll to one side or onto her stomach. That way, if she's hot/cold, she can comfort herself.
Hello J.,
I get Mamapedia to let Moms like you know that there is professional help out there. In a very short time, we could have her sleeping 10 to 12 hours uninterrupted in the night and takign quaility naps on her own. When she is teething or is ill or going through growth spurts or any developmental milestones, she will have the ability to still sleep well. You will be able to put "sleep on the shelf" and move on to other parenting challenges. Sleep is as important as proper nutrition and exercise in a child's life: for their health and overall well being. I look forward to hearing from you soon,
P.

I'd take her to the dr and make sure her ears and everything are ok. I took my 20 month old in just because he wasn't himself (grumpy, not sleeping well) and turns out he had a raging ear infection. He wasn't pulling at his ears and had no fever. Took him another time for the same thing, and while it wasn't ears, after some questions from the dr I realized he was constipated. My baby boy is now back to himself!
If she checks out ok, read "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child". Actually, read it even if you find out she's sick. It's a great, very researched book about childhood sleeping habits and how important they are for growth and development. Also, it gives the research on how well different sleep options work. Excellent book!
