7 Year Old Constant Sinus Issues....

Does your child have CONSTANT sinus issues?
1.5 years ago, he had his adenoids and tonsils taken out and tubes put in..... His adenoids have started to grow back (only happens in 2% of children) and he still gets a little bit of fluid in his ears... He was suppose to go in for surgery #2 but his ENT has decided to check him in 6 more months because his hearing test was better.....
He's had an allergy test and is mildly allergic to: egg whites and dairy... So we've kept an eye on that....
We've tried all allergy medicine and nothing works!

PS He also gets herpes simplex 1 in his eye/nose (only when he's about to get sick or when he has gotten to much sun) and he has molloscum.....

He's on a probiotic and vitamin everyday.....

Is anyone else dealing with these issues?

What can I do next?

I'm not dealing with these issues, but I would suggest talking with his pediatrician about a consult with an immunologist. I can't help but wonder if he has some type of condition that weakens him immune system. Repeated infections, herpes infections and molloscum contagiosum would lead me to believe that he's immune deficient.

My 7 yo takes Flonase. I was reluctant to start him on it, but man, what a difference. One squirt a day and we no longer deal with constant sinus problems and staph infection in his nose.

Agree with the previous poster. Certainly there are immune issues at work. Molloscum is is common, and also commonly goes away on its own, and usually when a strengthened immune system.

What do you mean by you've "kept an eye on" his allergy to egg whites and dairy? Are you restricting those things from his diet, or not? If you are not, why not? Keeping allergens out of his system will go a LONG way towards getting his immune system back on track and not in a constant state of upheaval, irritation, and inflammation.

Went through the allergy/sinus thing for a few years.
Our bottom line? My sons BFFs are Afrin, Flonase and Zyrtec.

wow what an ordeal. My husband has had severe sinus problems for the past few years, and he resorted to surgery to clear up his sinus issues. It has taken a few months after surgery for him to say that he is finally feeling better. I know there is a huge difference between a 7 year old and an adult, but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. Have you tried to get a second opinion? Maybe another doctor will have a better approach. Have you tried using a Netti Pot? My husband uses the NeilMed and that really helps, and my kids use it too. Can't hurt to try it. Good luck.
