My 18 month old does not eat sliced banana . i have to make a shake or mash it well . i tried adding couple of slices but he did not eat . Should i stop giving him this way or what ? he eats thinly sliced apples and other solid adult food .
he eats half boiled egg and couple of bites of omelette . How can i make him eat a whole egg in any chunky form . i tried adding in pasta but it did not work out .
these days he is running a mild diarrhea . he is good on taking Pedialyte along witth Zincat . But the stool is still greenish and almost after ever food . should i alter his diet or continue the Normal diet ?

What can I do next?

Your pediatrician is the person to ask about the diarrhea.

The banana and egg thing could be texture. Some foods just don't feel good to some people on their tongues. I CAN'T stand how bananas feel in my mouth. I'll eat banana bread, or smushed banana, but a cut up slice? YUCK! Same with eggs - give me scrambled all day long, but I can't do boiled or sunny side up. Too slimy in my mouth and tastes TOTALLY different than scrambled does.

It's a preference thing, and it's normal. Let him eat it how he likes it. Show him how to mash it himself :) He might like that.

I am sure it is just personal preference. From what I remember, your 18 month old has some medical issues, right? I would call your pediatrician if you are concerned about his diet and stools. However, I would not worry so much about his refusal to eat bananas any way but mashed. My 5 year old still prefers warm milk (ugh!)

I wouldn't worry about the fact that he prefers his bananas a certain way...even as adults, we prefer to eat our foods in certain preparations. He is able to eat other table foods, so I don't think this is a concern.

The diarrhea, however...I would consult a doctor on that. Although foods can cause diarrhea, there are many other causes to be ruled out. Good luck!

i agree with the mom's that say don't worry about the bananas. I am thinking the diarrhea could be an allergy to something. You might try holding certain things from his diet to see if it improves to rule out the cause.

The green stool would also have to do with the diet. I'm pretty sure vegetarians lean towards green stools. Sometimes it just means lots of vegies and no meat.

Someone already mentioned it, but him eating or not eating regular banana is fine. We all have our preferences. I did not like to eat regular bananas until I was in college. I didn't like the texture, I guess.

For his diarrhea, though, you may want to try to eliminate certain foods and see if it helps. The common ones to avoid are gluten-containing foods (anything with white or whole wheat flour) and dairy.
