I'm hoping to get some advise about my child's feeding schedule. He currently is formula fed and eats regular meals.

Bottle at 6
Cereal with fruit (Gerber 2nd Stage)
Bottle at 11
Meat with veggie (Gerber 2nd Stage)
Bottle at 3
Cereal with Veggie (Gerber 2nd Stage)
Bottle at 8

I guess my question is what can I replace to get away from jar food? Is the jar food just for practice and the formula is actual nutrition. This is my second child but for the life of me I can't remember how I transitioned my oldest. I feel like it was easier. for some reason.

What can I do next?

Go for finger foods-my DD refused blended food at 9 mths so I had no choice:) Soft fruit pieces (cook the apples and cool), most breads, pastas, rices should be fine, soft cooked veggie pieces and tender meats (ground or otherwise). He might move slower than your first --no biggie. Does he show an interest in what is on your plate?

both the jar food and formula provide nutrition. try finger foods. he needs practice chewing! supervise him with a cut up apple, pear or banana. You can even put some of the meats you cook yourself out for him to try in bite size pieces as well :) enjoy!

My daughter hated baby food and never ate much of it. By 10 months she was eating all table food and still nursing a bit. There really wasn't much of a transition, as soon as she could, she ate table food b/c she refused the baby food beginning around 9.5 months.

You can start giving your child table food. Whatever you're eating you can either just give little spoonfuls or tiny pieces or you can use a food grinder to make it small enough for him to eat, Cheerios, Puffs, and other finger foods are fun for him too!

try the gerber graduates meals. they can be a little pricey but they work well during transistion and also try ther gerber puffs. at that age my daughter only had formula at night right before bed and right before bed time
