My daughter has her "Golden Birthday" this year--turning nine on the ninth. She is so excited! She wants a three-tiered cake, which I will gladly make. Other than a gigantic cake, though, we have no ideas. Any great ideas to share with us? With that much cake, we'll have to invite lots of people to help eat it ;-) Decorations, games, activities, ideas? Please help! She's been looking forward to this birthday for a couple years, so I want to make it special for her. We're on an extremely tight budget, so we'll have to make/do everything ourselves... We live in a small town, so no bowling, skating, movies, or anything of the sort.

What can I do next?

What about a Nines Party? Have her invite 8 friends (so 9 total) and come 'dressed to the nines'? Have everything revolve around the number 9. Maybe do 9 activities?

1. Craft (maybe all make 9 necklaces with beads or something?)
2. Ice Cream with nine choices of toppings
3. Movie at home (at 9pm - if that is not too late)
4. Candy Buffet where there are nine choices (goodie bags for girls to take home)
5. Each girl can make a scrapbook page for your daughter and have number 9's cut out for different decor on the pages
6. Scavenger hunt to find 9 things
7. Paint each girl's nails 1 of nine colors (or 9 of the 10 fingers a different color)
8. Buy nine books/girly magazines and give one to each girl to read/cut out and make some sort of collage. Or just reuse old mags and have each girl make a 12x12 page of "What I want to be when I grow up" or something with 9 different cut out pictures (they could take this home)
9. Have a 9 option breakfast buffet at 9am the next morning (if doing a sleepover).

A friend of mine is doing a fashion show birthday. She is making a run way out of streamrs and balloons. The girls are each bringing a favorite out fit to "model" some teenagers are doing make up and hair. Someone is taking photos (think papparratzi) And running to Walgreen to print them out. Each girl gets a couple of fun photos of themselves. Fun music going and food it's really a pretty cheap fun party. We are copying it for my granddaughter birthday and she will be 11.

Does she have friends of both sexes or is she more of a girly girl? If more of a girly girl, you can have a "spa day" kind of party and give the girls manicure/pedicures (or let them give them to each other), have a sleep over with pizza, movie, and popcorn after the other guests leave.

Does she like butterflies? You can get that usually at dollar stores or be able to make them. (we got from dollar store and a novelty shop)

If you have a local YMCA, they might have a room to rent for birthday parties - not too expensive if you are a member either and here it allowed the kids time in the playroom!

I love what Bossfan & McMama said.
Also, love that gold idea from 2kid M..
Just to add:
-give each girl a manicure. Just paint their nails. You could, also, pay a
15 yr old neighborhood teen girl to come in & just paint all of their
fingernails so they feel like they are at a spa.
-pizza
-candy bar (diff bowls of diff candy w/a scoop & mini plastic bags, they
can even take these home.
-microwave popcorn, put in cute popcorn containers (buy online or at a
party good store) & watch a movie
-have colorful boas for them to wear/take home. Dollar Store
-give each girl an inexpensive chain w/cheap charms to make their own
bracelet
-scavenger hunt (can be at home)
-have them paint their own frames to take home

Buy all gold decorations! Gold balloons, gold plastic silverware, plates, streamers. :) You can use a gold paint pen to make a HUGE posterboard card that then all her friends sign. Think gold and sparkly...gold sequined shirt? Gold fingernail polish? If you are on a tight budget then don't invite lots of people...keep in small and quality! You will just have extra cake!
