I worked in pre school for 5 years and we sang it with the kids all the time.

I had a little turtle
his name was tiny Tim
I put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim
he drank up all the water
he ate up all the soap
he woke up in the morning with a bubble in his throat
I called for the doctor
I called for the nurse
I called for the lady with the alligator purse
and when they took that bubble out it sounded just like this (clap your hands)
out went the doctor
out went the nurse
out went the lady with the alligator purse.
The kids always loved this song. Hope it helps

I know it a little differently than the others. It's called The Lady With the Alligator Purse. You can get a book of it.
It goes: Miss Lucy had a baby.
His name was tiny Tim
She put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim
He drank up all the water
He ate up all the soap
He tried to eat the bathtub, but it wouldn't go down his throat
Miss Lucy called the doctor
Miss Lucy called the nurse
Miss Lucy called the lady with the alligator purse
In came the doctor
In came the nurse
In came the lady with the alligator purse
Mumps, said the doctor
Measles, said the nurse
Nonsense, said the lady...
Penicillin, said the doctor
Castor oil, said the nurse
Pizza, said the lady...
Out went the doctor
Out went the nurse
Out went the lady...

Miss Suzy had a baby, she named him tiny tim, she put him in the bath tub to see if she could swim, he drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap, he tried to eat the bathtub but it wouldn't go down his throat. Miss Suzy called the dr. the dr. called the nurse, the nurse called the lady with the alligator purse.

That's all I had so I looked it up. Since I was able to remember most of it, I was able to find it so her is the cut and paste also I don't remember having sang all of this version. Hope it helps!!

Miss Suzy had a baby
She named him Tiny Tim
She put him in the bathtub
To see if he could swim

He drank up all the water
He ate up all the soap
He tried to eat the bathtub
But it wouldn't go down his throat

He floated up the river
He floated down the lake
And now Miss Suzy's baby
Has got a bellyache

Miss Suzy called the doctor
The doctor called the nurse
The nurse called the lady
With the alligator purse

"Measles," said the doctor
"Mumps," said the nurse
"A virus," said the lady
With the alligator purse

"Penicillin," said the doctor
"Bed rest," said the nurse
"Pizza," said the lady
With the alligator purse

"He'll live," said the doctor
"He's all right," said the nurse
"I'm leaving," said the lady
With the alligator purse

"I don't want the doctor,
I don't want the nurse,
I want the lady
With the alligator purse"

Miss Suzy gave me peaches,
And then she gave me pears,
And then she gave me fifty cents
And kicked me up the stairs

My mother was born in England,
My father was born in France,
And I was born in diapers
Because I didn't have any pants!

I called my mom as soon as I read your question- she used to sing it too us all the time so we wouldn't drink the soap in the tub! Here's her version- "Molly had a baby, she named him Tiny Tim.. She put him in the bathtub to teach him how to swim.. He drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap.. and last night he died with a bubble in his throat." A bit morbid but VERY catchy;}

I know what you're talking about, it's one of those songs you sing on the playground with clapping hands. Of course now I'm having trouble remembering the part you are talking about.
something like "i had a little (turtle?)....put him in the bathtub to see if he could float. HE drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap. Now he's sick in bed with bubbles in his throat." Then it goes on to other rhymes. If I think up more I'll write back, unless when I read the other responses they already told you.
ok, never mind, I just read the one below me. Now it all comes back:-)

I was going to post the words for you, but it looks like they beat me to it. I first heard that song last summer when I took my 2 year to swim lessons. The teacher used it as a way to teach the kids to blow blubbles in the water & they all loved it. I thought it was such a cute song, we kept singing it long after the class ended. Sometimes we still sing it in the car together.

I have the DVD Pop Go The Wiggles which my 18 month old is addicted to. Anyway, this song is on the DVD and here are the lyrics they use:

Murray had a turtle, He called him Tiny Tim. He put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim. He drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap, he tried to eat the bathtub but it wouldn't go down his throat. Murray called the doctor, the doctor called the nurse, the nurse called the lady with the polka dot purse. Oooh said the doctor, Ahhh said the nurse, Fab said the lady with the polka dot purse. Murray thanked the doctor, Murray thanked the nurse, Murray thanked the lady with the polka dot purse.

(I think you could insert any name and not use Murray.) This is going off of memory but I think that is all the lines. Hope it sounds familiar.

Thanks for reminding me of such a fun little song!

I totally understand how just a bit of a song can drive you nuts! We sing this with motions in my toddler's swim class...

I had a little turtle (fold hands together with thumb sticking out to make "turtle")

His name was Tiny Tim, I put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim (place hands under water)

He drank up all the water (make drinking from a glass motion) and he ate up all the soap (eating from hands motion) and now my little turtle has a bubble in his throat.

Bubble, bubble, bubble

brrr, brrr, brrr (bubble noises in water)

Bubble, bubble, bubble. Bubble, bubble, POP! (toss kid up into air, and catch:)

Looks like there are plenty of other versions, but this one doesn't deal with sickness or death. Yikes - kid's songs/rhymes used to be a lot more morbid!

Maybe we're more protective of kids these days or maybe just less comfortable singing little ditties about death and illness:)
