A Friend like You

What is it about yourself or your personality do you wish you could find in a new friend? Example for me: I wish I could find another empty nest, divorced, 50ish female friend who is as spontaneous (with taking simple weekend road trips) as I.

What can I do next?

I would like to know more moms who had their child later on in life. I had my son when I was 37 and now at 47, many of the mom groups I know about have much younger moms in them.. Additionally, it's kinda the same at my son's school.. Although, I NEVER would change things, I never knew having a child later on in life might feel isolating at times. Don't get me wrong, I feel blessed.. but there definitely have been times when I wished to know more moms my age who also have kids my age.. on the one hand, there seems to be the moms in their 50s who have grown kids and then those 30 and below who have toddlers.. seems like 40 plus is the hit or miss age.. then again, I guess there are pros and cons to everything.. :)

I wish I had a bff in my life right now that actually had a huge heart and wanted to learn how to take care of my special needs son so I can get out now and again or have someone want to learn how to cook allergy friendly so my family could benefit from a ready made meal once in awhile. I watch all these new moms or people with hardships getting meal after meal brought in but I'm always and forever left out, it's frustrating, I won't lie.

Finding a new friend is often hard. For me, I can be very introverted depending on the atmosphere and people surrounding it. I have to be comfortable in order to actually open up. I am always looking for someone who is easy going, and REAL . Someone who knows their faults, but has a great heart and sense of humor. I have five very close girl friends and they all possess that trait. I am lucky to have them in my life.

I'm just looking for someone who has made similar life choices. I'd prefer someone happily married, with two kids, not one, not five. just two.

ha! I would love to find a friend who loved to read, read, read books on nerdy things like. . .theoretical evolution of mass communications or how to apply best practices in crisis management or Marketing and the evolution of creativity.
Don't get me wrong, I like brain candy (confessions of a shopaholic, nora roberts and steig larson) as much as the rest, but I get on these kicks where I want to really dig in and get some meaty reading and discussion and my book club just doesn't float it, neither does my professional society pals - sigh- Nerds unite! LOL

Common interests are good, but I've gotta say my BFF and I have some very different personality traits--that's what makes our friendship great!

The one friend I have (we've been friends for over 20 years and known each other at least 25)...she is my best friend. However, she is opposite of me in the majority of ways.

Our one true trait that we share is we never sugar coat anything for the other. If I'm being in idiot she tells me...if she's the idiot I tell her. There are no secrets there are no rules to our friendship.

I meet lots of new people all the time...but no any one who gets me like she does. (other than my hubs)...I wish everyone had someone like her!

I would love to find a friend with an easy going daughter who likes to travel and have fun. If she could cook, that would be great too.

I'd like a friend who wants to sip margaritas in the backyard with me while our kids play, who allows her kids some space to explore and figure out how to work things out and learn to be creative and entertain themselves (not one who will be hopping up every second to entertain or smooth over all the disagreements amongst the kids, etc). I guess I am lucky because my 3 sisters who are moms totally fit the bill! Sometimes you need to hang out with a non-family member though :)
