So last friday i took a pregnancy test and it was positive. We've been trying for a few months now so it was great news. I took a few more tests over the weekend just to be sure :) Yesterday afternoon I had some mild cramping and then while in the bathroom i noticed a few brown blood clots. They were pretty small, probably the size of a raisin or small grape. After that I had some more bleeding and it was more red in color. It wouldn't have filled up a pad, but it wasn't just while wiping. Haven't had any cramping or bleeding since last night. This happened at the exact same time as it did during my last pregnancy (at about 5.5 weeks) and I have a healthy 2 year old boy. I just don't remember there being clotting last time, I thought it was just bleeding but I honestly can't remember. Anyway, I called my doc and they had me come in for a blood test but I have to wait til Monday to do the second part of the test and I'm afraid I'm going to go crazy this weekend. Any experiences with this happening and then having a successful pregnancy? I

So What Happened?

I had the first blood test on Thursday night and my count was 1814. The count Monday morning was over 5,000...so good news - no miscarriage. I have an appointment next Tuesday and doc said he'd do an ultrasound to make sure everything is okay but as of right now, everything is perfect. Thanks to all the moms for the reassuring words!

I bled quite heavily for several weeks. Son now 6'5" NYC FF with four kids
of his own. So not all bleeding is a miscarriage.

Some implantation bleeding is normal. Brown blood would be "old" blood.
I'm sure you'll be fine. Try to relax.
I will tell you this--there is nothing you can or cannot do to change the outcome O. way or another. Little babies are strong & they can survive a LOT! Leave in in God's hands.
Best wishes.

Some women will have a period during the first month of pregnancy and go on to have a normal pregnancy and baby. I had a friend who had normal periods for 7 months and went in for a check-up and found out she was 7 months pregnant, and the baby was healthy and normal. So it does happen, but to be sure I woud go to an Urgent Care and get checked. If you are pregnant and about to miscarry the doctor can you give you hormone supplements to help maintain the pregnancy. If you wait it might be too late.

Please let us know what happens.

I had some brown spotting with some red streaks thrown in for about 4 days after I tested positive with my second child (right around the time I was supposed to have my period anyway). I was going to go to the hospital on day 4 to get it checked out, but my first child decided it would be a great day to break his arm. Spent time at the hospital...but not for me!! Pregnancy ended up all fine and good with a healthy little girl.

However, when in doubt, get it checked out!!

I've been there and I feel for you. My first pregnancy was a miscarriage at about the same time (5-6 weeks) and the second was successful, but I also had bleeding. The bleeding turned out to be polyps. Good luck and let us know how everything goes.

It is so worrisome, with my first pregnancy i had bleed (red) until about 5 1/2 months. I was under the care of a specialist, as I was definitely high risk. I was told the entire time, I was at risk of miscarriage, but what is meant to be is meant to be. My daughter was the 5% born on her due date, she's very healthy, smart, beautiful, and I guess you get me point. The blood work being done is to establish a baseline of the amount of pregnancy hormones present in your blood; it should be going up, way up, if on Monday there is little change or less it may indicate a miscarriage. Worrying about it is the worst thing you can do, as high levels of stress hormones can (in some cases) hurt you more. Stay positive and all the best!

Happened to me just like you and I had to wait the whole weekend too! I had a lot of issues with the pregnancy and bled on and off for the first trimester, but I did deliver a healthy baby girl at 40 weeks.

I never stopped worrying though and it was a very long 9 months. Good luck to you and I hope everything works out for you.
