hi, girls. Was wondering if anyone who has an infant w/ reflux underwent a 24 hour ph probe test. my doc is recommending this if putting rice cereal in formula doesn't work. She's been on Prevacid and Zantac for a few weeks now and was doing better but now having a lot more episodes. Any info on this procedure or topic is appreciated. Thx

What can I do next?

I know the previous poster said that putting rice in the formula is old fashioned, but it worked for us. I was hesistant in doing it as "you are not supposed to give your baby any solids until 6 months". But out of frustration (meds not working) I finally added the rice. He stopped spitting up so much and was not screaming in pain. Give it a shot, you never know what will work.

Sorry I don't have any info on the procedure, but just wanted to add: The medication (Zantac,Prevacid) alleviates the acid, but does not stop the refluxing. Baby will continue to spit up, but will hopefully no longer be in pain. The cereal in the bottle thickens it and helps keep everything down, keeping the reflux to a minimum. The two in combination are your best bet. Try it and see of it works.
