Ok, so I have a very active 5 year old she is always wanting to do something, somewhere, and somehow. She used to be in gymnastics in Oak Lawn up until last year when we moved out to the Plainfield/Joliet area. Well she has been asking to get back into it and I dont know where I should send her in this area. Does anyone have any suggestions of a place that is good but not outrageously priced? She also just finished school for the summer and is already restless, so does anyone know of any summer camps that take 5 year olds again that is not crazy priced?

What can I do next?

Try your local park district or local YMCA. The boundaries for the park districts in Plainfield and Joliet touch up next to each other so you need to find out which one your home is in. Call the Park District and they will tell you. They usually have classes for young children during the summer. The cost is relatively low because they are property tax supported. You do need to live in the district though to get those prices.

Have you looked into Gymquest? Plainfield Park District? Junior Village?

I would recommend GymQuest on Van Dyke road in Plainfield. They have open gyms, too, so you could go check it out before signing up for a class. There are also bounce house places with open play times -- just search online for bounce houses in the Plainfield/Joliet area. Also, if you are looking for educational camps in addition to physical play camps, there are a bunch of really fun ones at FasTracKids in Naperville on 103rd. I think they are 2 weeks duration and have topics like dinosaurs, astronomy, art.

You can also check out other park districts...Bolingbrook, Naperville...they just charge a slightly higher fee for non-residents.

Also, Lifetime Fitness has summer camps. We are members, but you don't have to be.

The Fountaindale library (Romeoville/Bolingbrook) has free classes and some classes for a small fee.

Good luck...I trying to decide for my 5 year old as well.
