Activity to Celebrate 2 Year Old's Birthday with No Party

Can anyone help me with ideas for my 2 year old’s birthday celebration? We are NOT having a party with friends, so I want to take him somewhere to do something he would enjoy. He LOVES trains, planes, horses, and fire trucks. Is there anywhere that I could take him to see/enjoy one of those? His birthday is March 7, so outdoors isn’t the best option (last 2 years it was cold AND raining). My best guess so far is The Henry Ford Museum.

Thanks for any ideas.

How about the Lionel Museum in Chesterfield Township. Here is the information so you can investigate it more. My family is into trains and we plan to take our 2 1/2 year old there this year.

The Henry Ford Museum is a good idea for him. Also, there is a firehouse museum in Ypsilanti, may be far for you though. I have not been there, I've been meaning to go, anyway, the website is michiganfirehousemuseum.org

Take at look at their website and see if it's something your boy would like.

Could you call your local fire department and ask if you could have a tour? On vacation in Maine, we took our sons to a local fire department and they got to get on the trucks and even put on a helmet. They loved it. Good luck!

My 2 & 3 year olds LOVE the Henry Ford Museum! They go a couple of times a month with my parents, and there is so much to see every time. They are totally in to trains, planes & horses, from what I've been told (haven't been there in a while myself).

I highly recommend the Henry Ford museum - my daughter is only mildly into trains, planes, etc, and she thought it was just the coolest place (she's 3 1/2 but her 1st visit was at 2 1/2 and she loved it then too).
