Yes m'am... teens (even good girls like yours....and mine are expensive to insure) Our straight A honors/AP, cheerleader, our policy which is combined with EVERY policy to get discounts and it still doubled.
We did not add a car either. We had her car on standby for when she got her license. Here's our deal... We use Farmers, we got a discount because EVERYTHING we have is insured through Farmers. She also got a very small discount for grades, a discount for watching some video they requested her to watch on the Farmer's site and I signed off on it, and the discount for drivers ed classes.
Bottom line...we have 3 Mercedes. 2010 E350 (hubby), 2007 CLK 350 (mint condition, less than 30,000 miles.... daughter's car) and 2008 SL550 ( my car) high end luxury convertible that daughter has never driven and won't for a long time.
Before adding her... our insurance bill was about $1100/6 months BUT we took the discount offered and paid in full of $900/6 months.
After adding her, it went to $2100/6 months and we take the discount, pay in full of $1900/6 months.
We keep deductibles at $1000, have top of the line coverage on all cars.
You can probably get something cheaper depending on the cars you insure. We knew going in that we would at least double because of the cars we drive. They are however, VERY safe cars and we value safety for our daughter.
We could not have purchased a better, safer car than the one she drives that is an 07 in perfect condition, we've owned from day 1.
Good luck, let's hope she gets no tickets..... That would throw a wrench in our set up!
