The one I know about is Calms Forte and Passion Flower, I think. I think that was the two my mom used for my sister that worked well. One is for night time and the other for day.
Has anyone heard of an herbal remedy that may help with ADHD? Its some kind of drink or a powder you mix with water. I heard it works very well but I don't remember the name or exact info on it.

I too have a 6 yr. old son that might have ADHD. I went to our local health food store and spoke to the lady working there. She explained to me that when children have ADHD, they lack certain vitamins and require more than most children. She suggested that we put our son on a powder vitamin called All One, DHA (fish oil/Omega-3) and an additional vitamin D softgel capsule. We also decreased his sugar intake. It is so hard to take it away totally. We let him have small amounts on the weekend so that it isn't a matter of him wanting it more because he can't have it. If he asks for something that I think is too high in sugar...I simply say...not today...but you can have it this weekend and usually by the time the weekend gets here...he has forgotten all about it. Anyway...I did not tell his teacher what I was doing and within 2 weeks she had to stop me and ask me what I was doing with our son because he was doing soooo much better in class for her. He was able to sit still and focus on his school work and he was more cooperative and just plain "getting it"!! Let me tell you...that was such a wonderful thing to hear...I hadn't been getting too much positive feedback before these changes and it just proved that the changes we had made were working. In fact she decided to start her own son on the same stuff and suggested it for some other parents of a student in her class! Please feel free to contact me if you would like anymore info. on these vitamins. Good luck...hope you can find a solution that works for your son!

When I was little I had a friend, Shawn, who was hyperactive. One time while visiting us, Shawn ran out of medicine. Wouldn't you know, he was having a particularly severe attack? His father gave him a cup of coffee, black-no sugar. Amazingly, it calmed him right down. According to his father, the coffee has the opposite effect on someone who is hyper. Rather than getting him all riled up, it calmed him down. Just a few years ago, I found out that a cup of hot coffee can also sooth an asthma attack. I don't know why it works, but it did. I don't know if you consider coffee an herbal rememdy, but with instant coffee, you just add water and stir.

My husband's mother helped control her son's ADHD by cutting out all sugary snacks and putting them all on a no-junk food diet. It's hard to cut all that out, but he never had to be on medication and he was pretty well under control.
I know of a family who is changing the eating habits of their son meaning NO WHEAT & NO DAIRY. He is better with his attention. It also helps with those who get repeated ear infections. The usual reason to go wheat free is due to diareah - celiac disease. Try it for a month or so. Look up Glutenfreechecklist.com or celiac.com for ideas. HyVee & Whole Foods have lots of gluten free foods.
If you find that info out i would love to no what it is and try it on my son.Good Luck
I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about, but I've heard of L-Theanine. It's an amino acid, comes from green tea. It's supposed to help the brain to calm a bit, but not cause drowsiness. I used to take it for anxiety. I have given it to my son, only a couple of times. He had no side effects. He said it worked a couple of times, but once wasn't sure if it did or not.
Do you have a natural or organic food store in the area? They should be able to help you. I have a 14 yr old who has struggled with adhd and it really seems to help to keep him away from sugar especially high fructose corn syrup an d to give hims bigger doses of fish oil
Hi! I do know B vitamins and folic acid works well. B vitamins work well together which supports the nervous system and folic acid helps to support healthy brain function. The product we use is called B-Complex and is Isotonix, which is a powder to be mixed with water, but it contains no herbs. An Isotonix childrens vitamins can also be helpful and the one we use is Children's Might-a-mins.
Both of these products taste great, too which is a plus when giving them to children! Good for you for seeking an alternative to using medications. You can find more information about these products at www.marketamerica.com/2bewell

I'm not sure what you are looking for, but my son is ADHD also. We use melatonin to help him sleep at night. It works. It is a natural sleep aid. They sell it at wild oats or whole foods. Its specifically for children.
Good Luck
ADHD is linked to food colorings/dyes/preservatives. Also, toxiicity in the home because of off-gasing of household cleaners, furniture, air freshners, carpet, etc. High-end supplements like Shaklee would also greatly improve his symptoms.
I know lots of testimonies!
