Hi! We adopted our first child in 2002 when we couldn't get pregnant for several years. We worked in Boise, ID with CASI Foundation for Children- A GREAT organization. We had our home study in February, got fingerprinted (the FBI has to do a criminal background check on all adoptive parents), and were on the adoption list March 1st! That just means the adoption agency is free to then show the letter you wrote and pictures of your life to all interested birthmothers. We "got the call" that we'd been chosen by a birthmother July 23rd, and our perfectly healthy son was born in Weiser, ID on July 27th. What a week! It probably cost us about $10,000 in 2002 for a domestic adoption (as opposed to an international adoption which does cost more). There is a $10,000 tax refund, though, so we end up getting the money back (I don't think it's $10,000 all at once the first year- I think it's spread out over a few years.) Feel free to email me privately if you like. I also DID get pregnant with our 2nd child and he's 2 now. We're now expecting #3! So, who knows but God how these things will go? :) ____@____.com
