Ladies--I have been struggling with breakouts for the last decade! I think it's hormonal becuase it actually seemed to be better during my pregnancies, but when not prego it always seems to be related to my monthly cycle. There seems to only be one or two weeks a month when I don't have any pimples! Does anybody know a great treatment/prevention? I tried Proactiv about 5 years ago...it worked ok but I wasn't completely sold on it...any advice and ideas would be appreciated!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ladies--thought I'd give an update since I've been through a few menstrual cycles since posting this and my skin looks great! I have been using the Zap It from Melaluca since it was a fraction of the cost of the Arbonne product. It is truly amazing. I have only gotten maybe 3 pimples since I've been using it, and they have been very small and have gone away immdiately when treated with the Zap It. I had also started using the Rare Minerals night time treatment from Bare Minerals and I think that has also made a huge difference in my skin.

Melaleuca's skin care system, Zap It, is AWESOME! I am 34 and didn't have bad acne until I was pregnant with my twins. Then it was terrible. Now, since I've had my 3rd little boy, I'll get some pretty nasty break outs from time to time. Zap It takes care of them everytime. Not only does it work, it only costs $14.99 for the entire system. That lasts me AT LEAST a month, if not more! Email me at ____@____.com if you'd like for me to tell you more about my experience with the product. I love it!

I am not sure what kind of birth control method you have been using. However, when I went to the dermotologist he suggested I switch to Yazmin. The low estrogen pill I was on before was actually making me break out. Now that I take Yazmin, I don't have anymore breakouts. Good luck!

Hey K.,
1st step is to see a Dr. Several years ago I had something like that...I broke out, mostly around my nose and above my lip. It was very itchy
The Dr called it adult acne. He game me an RX for an antibotic....keep in mind I had tried everything out there.
It took several months to clear up completely, but it has NEVER returned.

I totally understand your frustration. I have always had problem skin, and the only remedy for me was birth control pills. I got off the pill for about a year before trying to conceive and it was horrible, my face brokeout all over again. But, as soon as I stopped breastfeeding, I tried Yasmin and it is wonderful! No breakouts, my pores are even smaller. I love it. Also, I don't have any side effects, so this is great. I recommend you talk to your OBGYN and/or dermatologist first. And, beware of topical treatments... they only help manage the breakouts, not rid you of them.

You get a few weeks a month?! Grr I'm so jealous. I too get breakouts around my periods...and by the time they all clear up! It's time for my next cycle. I had perfect skin as a teenager and really until I turned 30. I have no idea what to do. I've tried Pro Active as well. I like Clinique and I'm pretty good about washing my face every night before bed. If you find anything out...please let me know too!!

I've had the same problem. I break out with everything. I've used different things in the past, but I've found the best that I've used is the Arbonne Clear Advantage System works well for me. It has the acne treatment, toner and lotion. It comes with an extra eye lotion and it has a skin support dietary supplement that has different vitamins for your skin. I also use it because the acne treatment and the acne lotion are both items I can use with my FLEX Spending account at work and I can get my money back on them. Go to www.arbonne.com if you are interested. If you like it, my consultant id is 16128801. My skin looks so much better and my family noticed the difference right away. I joined arbonne to get the consultant discount for this product and for my son's dermatitis.

Hi K.,

I've never had really bad acne but I've never had perfect skin either. I have used everything on the market. The cheap stuff, the high dollar stuff, the late nite infomercial product...all of it! They made my skin itchy, red and I had dry patches. I have to tell you that the Arbonne Clear Advantage System works. I'm an Arbonne Consultant and I hear testimonies all the time about what a differnce these products make not only in ones appearance but their self esteem. All of our products are Herb and Botanically based and come with a 45 day guarantee. If you have any questions or want to try these products please feel free to contact me.

Arbonne's Clear Advantage is amazing!! You can see some before and after shots at www.arbonne.com. I have a Clear Advantage set if you want to try it out before you buy it. I have used it and love it, and I know several people with adult onset acne that have used Clear Advantege with great success!

Also, if it is a hormone thing, Arbonne makes a great balancing cream. I have not personally used it, but know a gal (also in her 30s) that swears by it. Its called Phyto-Prolief. You can also check it out at arbonne.com.

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have!

Good luck!

Well girl I had the same prob and feel your pain. I have since gotton on birthcontrol thats continus (Seasonal is a good one) You only have 4 peroids a year. I have switched to Bare Minerals and it has done wonders for my skin. Im also on a 6 month of Acutian. Between all this my face looks great. I used ot have super oily skin..like Id have to do my makeup 2xs a day thats how bad it is. Im on the generic of Acutain and I have had no side effects and only good results. The doc said the med changes your system so it will not break out as much after your off the meds. I tried all the prescription facial washes and lotions and antibiodics and nothing worked. I was leary about the acutain. My sis in law and 2 friends had all done it and the generic so I felt safe. I use Dr. Harla on Hwy 26 in Grapevine and they are great and really want you to be safe and happy. Well good luck hopefully youll get enough advice that something will work for you.

Hi K.. I just wanted to add my two cents! I 100% agree with the other women who suggested Arbonne's Clear Advantage system. It treats your skin from the inside out. I've seriously seen it change the skin of several people I know. Good luck!

I don't sell Mary Kay anymore but I still use some of the products, especially the Acne Treatment Gel. It is wonderful. It's pretty strong so you don't need to use much and one tube will last you a looooooong time. At the first sign or feeling of a pimple I touch a small amount onto and around the area a couple of times a day and it usually stops the breakout. Make sure when you're washing your face you don't rub or scrub that area to much because I've been told that could irritate it and cause the breakout to be worse.
