Hi,
I struggle with adult acne all of the time...I have had success with an oral antibiotic when it gets really bad. You can always try Accutane and/or Retin-A if you are not planning a pregnancy.

I happen to be going through a very stressful time right now, and my chin always breaks out badly when this happens. Thank you for any suggestions you can provide for adult acne.... also, for itchy and flaky scalp.
Thanks to all the wise and thoughtful moms who responded. I received so many great tips, I can't wait to try the ones that I have not already tried before posting the request. Blessings to all!

Good Morning C.,
have you ever gone deeper in your exploration of why your have skin problems? I've had skin problems my entire life and have tried many products. And yes, they go away for a while and then return. So that wasn't solving my problem. My thinking is, why do I have this in the first place. After 37 years of being alive and continually aksing why, I found answers.
1. Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Balch
2. Say Goodbye To Illness by Dr. Devi Nambudripad
both books can be found at a discounted rate through Amazon.com.
What I've learned is that most physical problems that ALL humans have, have a root in allergies. Yes allergies. Western Medicine does not give the attention to allergies that they should. Dr. Devi Nambudripad, an american doctor, created NAET. NAET.com is a group of allergists around the world who ELIMINATE allergies. As far as I know, they are the only ones who successfully eliminate allergies and without drugs. I strongly suggest that you log onto NAET.com, locate an allergist near your home and have them test you. Depending on the NAET allergist, the testing can be free or it is a nominal fee. It doesn't hurt to have knowledge. Knowledge is power. When we are informed then we can make choices that end in success.
If you have any questions, I can answer them, ____@____.com, but I suggest you just jump in the water of NAET.
Be Well.

I was 35 when I developed adult onset acne. I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed differin and benzaclin. Both expensive and really irratating to the skin, and you have to avoid the sun--impossible with kids!
I did a little research and found that using a anti-bacterial face wash (I use Equate, Walmart's brand)and I use a face sponge like a Buff Puff that exfoliates. I also use a non-oily moisterizer. You must wash your face twice a day and don't scrub. If your skin is sensitive just use your hands to gently wash until you get use to using the face wash which may make your skin feel dry. Try not to pick or touch your face either. I have been using this system for many years and have no problem now. As for the itchy falky scalp, Use a dandruff shampoo. I too, have had dry itchy scalp. I've used dandruff shampoo for many years and really don't know if I have dandruff or ichiness anymore. I have used Pert, Garnier and even Equate brands. I do recommend that you change brands once in a while. I always use the dandruff shampoo and conditioner two-in-one and they smell prety good.
I was told that women experience hormomal changes and this is why we have these problems. You'll get through it--I did!
I had the same issue and have tried everything cheap and expensive. Murad products work wonders but are a bit pricey, I have found and alternative and it is the new Neutrogena Acne line. it is amazing and truly since i have been using it i have no major break outs. I might get a little one but once I wash my face and use the acne fighting toner, it goes away over night. I have never had skin issues my whole life, I had perfect skin, but as we change so does our skin. I would really recommend it before you go to a dermatologist. Good luck!
Hello,
I suffer from adult acne as well and my doctor has prescribed me Doxycyclin (pill form) and benzoclyn (topical. These two together work great I have no acne anymore... the pill i take twice a day and the topical I put on in the morning and before I go to bed. I don't know if the spelling is right but your doctor will know what it is... hope this helps.

The first thing you can do is keep your hands away from your chin. I tend to break out on my chin when I am stressed, but that is because I'll hold onto my chin. If that doesn't help, your doctor can prescribe an antibiotic. For your scalp, use head and shoulders or any other dandruff shampoo. Good Luck!
I am a natural health consultant, and I would be happy to meet with you to see what we can do about your acne. I suffered with adult acne for many (miserable and embarrassing) years, and now I dont even break out during my period. I bet we can come up with the perfect plan for you!

Hi C.,
I know there are many options and different things work for different people. I used to have acne problems mostly on my chin and found the usual products in the stores didn't help. Because my acne was limited I didn't want to use anything systemic and prescription from the dermatologist. I saw the infomercials for Proactiv Solution and thought I should give it a try. Well, boy am I glad! I have used the products ever since. I don't have to use much and it isn't irritating. It just keeps my skin very clear. On the rare occasion that a pimple starts to come up the products get rid of it in no time. What's great, too, is that you can put a next shipment on hold if you aren't ready for more when the time comes or just spread out the time between new shipments.
Well, best of luck.

I have some great products that I would be glad t o tell you about and let you sample. The Essentials Blemish Control is the very best. Zits I have had in the same places for years are comming out of my face. I am so excited about it!!
A good vitamin and maybe some Rhodiola to stabilize your moods.
Let me know when you have an hour or so and we will find the right solutions for your skin.
Regards, Jacque W
if you are also "warmer" than most people & have a habit of keeping your feet out of the covers while asleep, try homeopathic remedy called Sulphur 30C. if it does not work, you may want to work with professional homeopath to find better-fitting remedy.
Good Luck

Hello. I love Proactive. It is pretty inexpensive and you can get it on line or at the mall kiosks. Alos, if it is in your budget, a facial or microdermabrasion works great. But you have to comit to monthly treatments. A combo of Proactive and facials would be great! But don't forget to also treat it from the inside, and no just outside. A healthy diet, lots of water, and exercise, too, will all benefit you, and help your stress too. Good luck.

Hey C.:
Try straight Magnolia oil straight on the area. That will clear it up in no time. My younger son and my older daughter both suffer from Acne, my son worse then my daughter and he does a neutrogena wash, then he applies Magnolia oil straight on the spots and it clears up nicely. Its all natural. Just my suggestion.
Stress is horrible for everything. ;-) I'm 37 and still get acne for different reasons, just not as much. What you have to remember is to be proactive. Get good facial cleanser and moisturizer, I use Mary Kay, it's awesome and affordable. Wash your face daily in the morning and especially at night to clean make up and dirt from the day. Also, use clean towels and pillow cases. Build up of oils and dirt on the pillow case make you break out. One last thing, hydrate! Drink water, it's so important. Stay away from greasy foods, they help add to acne prone skin.
Though stress will make you break out, being proactive should hopefully help lessen how much and for how long the pimples last.
Hi C.:
I use proactive and really like it. I also suggest getting a mild facial peel once every four to six weeks. It worked for me.
Hi C., sorry to hear you are having so much stress!
My chin breaks out too when I'm stressed.
I find that when I'm stressed, I eat a lot of comfort food (bread, candy, chocolate, mac and cheese, pasta and so forth). Eating sugar and white flour seems to make my chin break out. When I avoid eating a lot of those things, the breakouts lesssen or go away. It takes a litle bit of time for my body to adjust though - not just a day or two, but a couple of weeks at least.
Perhaps try adjusting your diet a bit? It would be easy to try, and you wouldn't have to buy anything new or put anything on your skin.
Just a thought. Hope things get better for you!
R.
It will have a lot to do with the products that you are using in regards to the scalp and breakout on the chin is easy to handle as long as you use the right products as well.
You will want to use things that are mild, do not block the pores, and provide the right moisturizing. A clay mask to pull impurities out, cleanser (with no sodium laurel sulfates), a toner (with no alcohol), a moisturizer (with no petroleums, mineral oils). I also use a product called Sea Silk Mask a couple of times a week that is my magic in a bottle, removing the top dead cells and bringing up new cells to the surface faster.
My acne went away after having it for thirty years by using Sensaria Natural Bodycare. My daughter's eczema went away by bathing and using Sensaria and her skin even became softer after being in the tub for an hour+, and my husband's dandruff went away using the shampoo and his dry, scaly skin went away by using the body wash and the nourishing moisturizer on his face.
Sensaria has a one-year guarantee on all of it's products, is made in the USA (you don't know how important this is), no petroleum, no sodium laurel sulfates, no dyes, no harsh chemicals. I loved the products so much that I became a representative seven years ago and have had a very successful business and long time customers. I also offer a first time discount.
Look at your digestive system as that usually can show up on the chin when there are problems.
I am not a doctor or a dermatologist so I do not feel that I can give you anything other than what worked for my husband. My husband has had acne and been on meds since I met him 20 years ago.
Here is what I know: Acne starts from the inside. This is that he started 3 years ago and within 30 days we saw a completel shift in his skin. Nohttp://liveitdontdiet.isagenix.com/us/en/isavideos_cleans.... Here it is 3 years later and I can tell you is he has had no breakouts, a few lone spots here and there, but OMG, it is unbelievable.
If you want to talk about it, you can contact me.

Votre Vu's skin line for oily skin works wonders. I can tell you more. Email me at ____@____.com.

Hi C., I have a device and gels that will help both the
acne and the scalp issues. Where do you live? I live in Redondo Beach. Are you in the LA area? I know this will help the skin issues, only time and prayer can sometimes help the other stress part.
Let me know where you live and let's talk. D.
I've been hearing for years from a number of different sources that apple cider vinegar helps with a number of different issues from skin and hair problems to digestive issues and high blood pressure, and more. I had recently met someone who used it to detox her system and felt wonderful after two weeks so I am now giving it a try. If you google "apple cider vinegar health benefits," you can access some pretty interesting write ups on this product.
Good luck.
