I just got the new samsungs, the one with the silver care. And i LOVE them. I love how big they are and my clothes are brighter. I did not get the pedestals but had my honey make some for me. Good luck.
We are starting to shop for a new washer and dryer. Is the whirlpool duet with the sanitary cycle really worth the money?
Any advice on where to shop for the best deal?

GE Profile Harmony is a fantastic dryer. Expensive but well worth it. Some complain it is too noisy but my old dryer was noisy. I have a separate room for laundry and just close the door to get some peace and quiet.
Another complaint I read, when reading the reviews on it, was that the plastic shoe rack melts if it gets hot. But if you read your manual it says not to use heat when using the shoe rack!
Whatever you do DON'T get a LG DLE5977 Electric Dryer. We had to return one and exchange it for the GE Profile Harmony. The heat sensor didn't work on the LG at all. From what I have read it is a very common problem for LG heat sensors to not work or to break down soon after purchase.
Also Homedepot had the best deals at the time (that was last year).

3 weeks ago my old washer died. New washer not in our budget...My husband and I over a weeked reasearched best washer for least amount of money. We checked consumer reports, read washer reviews on line from several dealers.. Sears, Homedepot, Lowes, ect.
We decided on the LG Electronics Model WM0642HW for $899 at homedepot. It was Consumer Repots Top Pick for best washer that cleans, is energy effecient, and the best value for your money. There was a Whirlpool and a Bosch top rated too. The Whirlpool was more expensive and the Bosch was small inside.
How do I feel about my new LG Model WM0642HW washer. Never thought I would be a woman to fall in love with an appliance, but this washer I have totally fallen for. When you turn it on it plays a a three second tune of notes. Like its talking to you to let you know its ready to go. The wash cycle is quiet, you hardly know its running. (I am very sensitve to noise so that is very important to me.) Several of the reviews I read said not to put a front load washer on the second floor because it would vibrate the house and be be very loud. Ours is on the second floor, I can tell you I have done over 20 loads of wash and I have not had that problem. You could hear the spin cycle when I did a heavy comforter, but it wasn't loud. The clothes have come out clean. You do not save time on the wash cycles compared to any other washers, but because the clothes do not come out dripping wet... It takes less than half the time to dry. Saving lots of energy and money. Husband loves that. My Husband can not believe how many loads of landry I am getting done a day. That is the only draw back to this washer is my husband thinks/jokes since I am getting so many loads done quickly that I am going to have a lot of extra time on my hands and he is trying to make a wife to do list to fill the time he thinks I have. He doesn't realize the only machine to fold laundry is a human hands and usually the wife's.
Defiantly get the pedestal with any of the front loading machines its worth the extra money. The machine would be to low to the floor without it. There is a 7 inch and a 13 inch for the LG. Get the taller one. I have a bad back. I am so glad I got the 13 inch pedestal with mine.
Good luck in your search.
My sister just bought a few months ago the Samsung Silver washer & dryer. She loves it! Because of the silver element in it, it gets your clothes cleaner. She said her clothes are brighter and cleaner than they've ever been. She got them at Lowe's and I think she got one of them from the "chip & dent" section. Don't waste your money on the pedastals.
If you decide to wait and not buy new, I know of someone who is selling his. Two year olds, GE, he is moving out of his house and is having a moving sale today. Come by and look 3005 Cedar Crest Drive in the Legends in McKinney. ###-###-####
I just bought the kenmore oasis! I love it. Normally they are 3000.00 but I bought it at the sears outlet at grapevine mills mall for 1600.00 It has my whites their whitest since they were bought. I love them!

I just had my washer die on me so we bought a new set as well. After lots of research, I opted with the front loading LG version on pedestals (in red). :) LOL... Conn's had the best financing and next day delivery for free. Why pay outright when you can do interset free financing. I opted for LG b/c of the HUGE capacity it has... It doesn't hold but one "dose" of detergent -- I know there are some out there where you can load up quite a bit in them.... that wasn't important to me. I like that it has the ability to wash a king sized quilt.... and it has the ability to do a very hot sanitizing wash (I'm potty training a 2 year old so it's actually come in handy already)... it's amazing how far technology has come since having an old washer/dryer...and how little water they use...the clothes smell cleaner, actually FEEL softer out of the dryer... it's amazing! :)
Have fun -- kinda crazy when you get excited about large appliances! :)
I'd say don't buy something just because of ONE setting though... think about what you are ALWAYS doing... like 99% of the time... THEN add in the perks. ;)
OH..and I bought the pedestals... don't really use them... but I like not having to lean over for the wash. :)
Yes, it really is worth it! I was opposed to spending the money, but my husband talked me into it, and we LOVE it! To help you justify your purchase: I've found that it's easier on my clothes so they last longer and is more energy efficient. You'll love it!
I got a Whilpool a year ago and had to have the lid to the washer replaced a month ago. The new one has thin paint on all the corners and the applicance man suggested I put more paint on it. They just do not make the appliances the way they did years ago. My friend had a fluke thing happen with a May Tag. She was washing and it over flowed. Brand new, and she saw the water just pouring out. she had to have sheet rock replaced and floors and painting done and had to move out of the home and this was in Lantana. There was a shut off valve that did not shut off. So I have no idea what the best would be. I had top of the line Kitchen Aid in my last home and the applicants were a dream. But they are a lot more expensive too. Good luck. I have no idea where to get better. I got mine last one at Lowes but they were trying to get out of the warranty that I paid extra for. Then could not find my receipt but I found it and in the Whirlpool book it says they cover lids within so much time. So keep the receipt and books. I also had a whilpool years ago one day after the one year warranty the engine fell out of the machine. They were no way going to replace it until they came out and saw it. Then said he had never seen a machine do that. So they replaced it but I also paid more for an upgrade. That one lasted until I gave it away after 10 years.May tag does something where they get the clothes so dry it is less drying time. G. W
