My husband and I want to put new carpet and ceramic tile thorughout our home. Does anyone have advice on what supplier/contractor to go through? I would prefer not to go through HomeDepot because of a past bad experience with my countertops. What about Lowes?

So What Happened?

We got a couple of bids and narrowed it down between Lowe's and Master's Flooring. Man, those 2 places were in a bidding war for us. But in the end, we went with the little guy, Master's Flooring. We have been pleased.

We got laminate flooring throughout most of our home, as well as kitchen countertops and tile backsplash from Lowe's in Keller. We had a fantastic experience with them. Stacy (in flooring) was a great help to us. I would highly recommend them. They also gave us a 10% discount on the materials.

Good luck!

I don't know who to use, but don't use Carpte One. They did my floors and screwed up. Their customer service is horrible! They never call you back and when they say they will come by they don't show up. It's been 4 months of trying to get them to get back with no results!!!

H.,
I used Bobby Garcia, a contractor, and he has connections to a discount carpet supplier and tile manufacturer. He's great and inexpensive BUT time estimates are not his strong point, 1 hour means 4 to him, and 1 day means 4 days.

But he follows up on any problems, he's very polite and so are his workers. So, you have to take the time issue in-stride. I had quotes from Empire and Home Depot and it would've cost me about $5k to recarpet my house. With Bobby I saved over $1k dollars.

My friends have used him for tile work and he does a beautiful job.

If you use him, I would go to the carpet discount warehouse he works with and choose the carpet. He can bring you samples, but they could be gone by the time you decide. The carpet they have is Shaw or Mohawk that was either from a job where they bought too much or was cancelled. They can order carpet for you from Shaw or Mohawk too but it will cost alot more than buying from what they have in the warehouse.

The tile manufacturers he works with are down off the 635 and Luna road. They are the same tile companies that supply Lowes and Home Depot.

Bobby's number is 469/767-5919. Tell him I referred you and good luck!

I have really good luck with carpet mills and they are affordable. They have done carpet for me, pergo floor, ceramic tile in my house and my boyfriends moms house (we got her for Xmas present and carpet mills took really good care of her and did a great job- she needed flooring repaired underneath)

Floor and Decor has great prices on tile - significantly less than Lowes or Home Depot and much better selection. I was going to put ceramic tile in my bathroom and ended up doing travertine because the price difference was so nominal. They are a tile warehouse - they can recommend and installer or you can use your own.

Yes, a great full-service general contractor to go through to help you for anything is Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling. They are certified, insured and everyone that works for them has also passed a background check. Just a little peace of mind. The phone # is ###-###-#### and tell them I referred you...please. It's worth it to at least check out. Good luck.
