Need some input, advice, guidance.....my daughter is in an in-home daycare. there are 3 other children cared for as well as our providers own 2 children (during the summer and after school...they are kinder and 1st gr this fall) i have 2 questions: 1. do i give birthday gifts to the other day care kids/ or to the kids of the day care provider? 2. do i give christmas gifts to any of the day care kids or the provider's kids? oh..i just thought of one more question...do i give b-day/ x-mas gifts to my day care provider AND what kind of "tip/ bonus" do i do at Christmas? this is my first child so i don't have any experience w/ day care. any guidance would be welcome! thank you!

I would say just to the provider.. If you want to do a little plate of cookies for the kids from time to time that would be neat.

I think as far as gift giving just go ahead and remember her at christmas with a little something.

Just my thoughts..

Just the provider is fine unless you want to do it.

I don't think there is anything you need to give for any of that, however, alot of people may give the sitter a christmas card.Nothing more nothing less.If the sitter may get you all something you could find something small but not necessary

All three of my children went through in-home day care. As she is a day-care provider and not just a sitter, I think you do need to give her something at X-mas. Most of the "experts" will say you need to give them something in the amount of a weeks worth of pay, but honestly, at Christmas who can afford that?! Each year we did something different; gift card to a restaurant or movie theater, one year I put together a large gift basket with homemade goodies, crackers and cheeses (that way it was for the whole family, and one year we did just give her a cash bonus. We never celebrated anything for her kids unless we were invited to something (which was only graduations) Every once in awhile I would try to remember to do something nice (a box of chocolates on valentine's day, a spring bouquet of flowers, etc) After all she is providing love, care and support for your child. Even though you are paying her it still is nice to give other gestures of your appreciation. As far as the other kids, as others mentioned, we only provided a gift if they were invited to a party. Half the time I didn't even know it when it someone's birthday. Our daycare provider was really good about keeping things low-key. Congratulations on your little girl!

Unless a child asked your child to a party, I wouldn't give gifts for the kids. You may have a "party" and bring, ie cupcakes to share for your child's birthday. I would give the provider something for Christmas. Not necessarily a "tip", but maybe gift card to Target, Starbucks or something like that. I don't think they expect a tip/bonus.

I agree with the previous. Types of gifts at Christmas....a card telling how much the teacher is appreciated and maybe a small gift card to a bookstore or movie theatre even Target would probable be good.
