Hi,
Little Elementary, in Southwest Arlington, is a great school. Little and Ashworth were the only two exemplary schools in Arlington last year. Just a suggestion...
Hey Mamas,
My daughter is going to be ready for Kindergarten in the fall. She is, perhaps, a little over prepared. She is reading and writing and doing single digit addition and subtraction. I have seen the kindergarten cirriculum and I am a little concerned that it will not be a challenge for her. I am not particularly interested in pushing her ahead for social reasons and there is no way we can afford private school. I have applied for a couple of charter schools with good reputations but there are long waiting lists and I'd like to have more options in case she doesn't get in.
So I am asking for advice on the best elementary schools in Arlington ISD in time to request a transfer. I live in central Arlington very close to UTA. I cannot drive too far North or South but will make an effort for the sake of my kiddo.
Thanks for the help,
D.

I have heard very good things about Butler. It is in North Arlington, across from Lamar High School.
As far as I know Kindergarten is not mandatory and check with your ISD and maybe you can home school for a year and then start her in first grade. Also, something to think of in first grade they can test for gifted and talented but not Kinder. Remember to that in Kindergarten they get the basics for socializing, directions, manipulative's, cognitive thinking, problem solving, working with teams and learn the ropes for lunch in the cafeteria, gym class, learn about hygiene, social studies etc. My son too was very advanced in the reading and writing but was a little immature so he went and had fun, meet new friends, got time away from me etc and it he really learned A LOT more than I would have thought. Good luck.
I have heard very good things about Arlington Classics Academy & Treetops School, both charter schools. They may have long waiting lists but most charter school have not even started the lottery list for next school year. Most (if not all) charter schools have lotteries. That means they take anyone who has completed paperwork and on a specified date, draw names for the number of openings in a particular grade. That means if you get your paperwork in on time, you have just as good of a chance of getting in as the person who turned it in first. Good Luck!
Hi D.,
My name is T. and I live in Glenn Heights. I hate to say it, but there's no way you are going to find a "regular" school on that level. My son is in first grade at Life School Red Oak and he loves it. We love it too. It's like a private school, but it's a charter. He knew the whole Kindergarden curriculum at age 3, but he still enjoyed the class and he never got into any trouble for being disruptive or anything. Look them up, they are great. Good luck!
