Aerobic/Exercise Dvd's for Children

I'm looking for suggestions on dvd's pertaining to an invigorating workout that is geared for children 6+. My almost 3 son has been all over me while I work out and has started copying me. I decided it would be much more fun if I found one that was a little advanced for him, but is something he could grow into while I still got a decent work out in. I'm not looking for any stretching, pilates, or yoga. I'm looking for something that will keep us on our feet with our hearts pumping.
I know it sounds stupid, but I have a hard time committing myself to a workout and I would like the motivation from putting in a dvd that commits me to follow through. I'm sure I can put on some music and go for it, but I think this would be a more positive way to encourage daily exercise with something we could incorporate into our routine.

What can I do next?

There used to be a children's exercise video put out by sesame street. I believe it was called Elmocize or something along that line. My sister-in-law used to do this with her girls daily when they were little. At our library in KY you can check videos out for a week. See if you can find it at your library and check it out before you look into purchasing.

Hi S.,

Working out has always been a big part of my life and I want to set an example for my girls and encourage them to stay active and healthy. Before they started school I found a site on Comcast ON DEMAND that was a workout made for children. I did it with them and let me tell you it was pretty intense. They loved it because it was a lot of jumping around. You know how they like to jump!

I'm sorry I don't remember the name, but it might have been under the kids activity area. I liked it because it didn't involve putting in dvd's or tapes it was always there when I wanted it. Hope this helps and you have access to ON DEMAND, I know your whole family would enjoy it.

Stay healthy

J.

you going to laugh, but i'm going to say tae bo or any cardio workout that doesn't involve push-ups. they don't really do workout dvds for kids that young, instead they do singing/dancing dvds (sing along/dance along things) that help kids move around and it's enough for them. i don't think you want to run around in circles singing barney songs or do disney/nickelodeon kids dance routines as your workout.
however, the cardio dvds for the most part have music and you are moving around doing things with your arms & legs so it'll be engaging enough for your son. good luck!

ELmocize is a good one your son might like now. It isn't for 6 and older, but your son would like it now. IT is also quite aerobic if I am remembering right. IT is elmo excercising and directing you to do it with him.
