One more time as I can't seem to find this anywhere. Can someone recommend affordable health insurance. I do have Ameriplan but I thought someone recommended something else previously and I must be missing the category or something. My son is on Kidcare and after two applications we have been turned down for the family coverage. We must be on the margin of their incoe requirements as we are definitely not upper income people and we live paycheck to paycheck like a lot of Americans. My husband's insurance is not available for several more months and I would love to get something that would back us in case of emergency that doesn't require remortgaging the house! Thanks again as I know I've seen this already but I can't seem to locate it.

What can I do next?

Why don't you call your doctor or pediatrican, talk with the person who submits their insurance claims, and ask for recommendations? That way you will also be able to find out who is a responsible payer.

Call Unicare 888-571-9050. Sometime they do take awhile to pay out on their claims but they are the cheapest around. I do medical billing for a living so give them a try. Make sure you understand the termination process so when you get your other insurance you won't have problems.

If you only need coverage until your husband's insurance starts, I would recommend a short term medical plan. Assurant and BCBS both have good affordable plans. The BCBS plan if for a maximum of 6 months and the Assurant plan will last a maximum of 12 months.

If you need somthing longer than that, BCBS has some affordable options and UniCare is known for having good rates.

I would be happy to give you more information or quotes. Please contact me via email at ____@____.com or you can call my office ###-###-####.

Sincerely,
Jessica

Affordable is the key word. Blue Cross Blue Shield is not my favorite company and I certainly have had problems with them, but unfortunately they have the corner on the market in health insurance. After being turned down by KidCare several times because I work, I eventually found a policy for individuals (or families) with BCBS. I insured my son seperately because he was almost 16 and I wanted to be sure when he turned 18 he would have coverage. The premiums are now up to $115 month with $250 deductible. He's had lots of health issues so I was very glad to find this. As far as family, you are at the mercy of the underwriters. Do you have preexisting conditions? They will not even insure you if you have arthritis. You always have the CHIP program through the state but their premiums are HIGH and deductibles are HIGH so most expenses are out of pocket but you will have catastrophic insurance. You can also try the new savings plans where you get discounted medical care and you put $ in a savings account with insurance company. If you have to go to hospital, your account will act as collateral for your hospital bill. It's not ideal but if you're desperate, it's there.

Hi S.,

My name is C. Bajkowski and I am the owner of CB Health Insurance. I have been in the insurance business for 18 1/2 years and represent all the major 'A'-rated companies. I am more than happy to provide you quotes and options. The big issues for most people are cost and pre-existing conditions. We cover all these areas and help advise you so that you can find the best plan that suits your needs. I would be happy to talk with you further.

Feel free to visit my website at www.cbhealthinsurance.com You can run quotes at this site. I can also email you quotes in about 24-48 hours. I would simply need to speak to you for about 10 minutes to get some basic information. Please feel free to call me at the office. I will be here late tonight; you can usually catch me in the office late on Mondays and sometimes on Wed as well. My direct line is ###-###-####.

I am happy to tell you all the pros and cons about each policy and the process for applying and the issue of "pre-existing" conditions. My motto is: "It is my POLICY to see that you get the best POLICY that suits your needs."

I look forward to talking to you and helping you find something affordable for your family. We could even take a look at different policies for different family members - especially if everyone has different needs.

C. Bajkowski,
Owner CB Health Insurance.
