hi, my baby is 4 months now. I stopped breastfeeding at 3 months and started weight watchers and walk 5 days for a hr and weight train 30 min 2 to 3 days a week. I hve been doing this for a month now........got on the scale this morning and i am up 4 lbs. Is my body not letting me lose for some reason ? I remember it not coming off fast with my other kids but i am working so hard and should not be gaining right?? thanks for any suggestions

What can I do next?

I also tried to loose in conjunction with weaning. It didn't work. I had to just stop and wait for hormones to normalize .

Your body is going through A LOT of changes still. Especially, since you just stopped breastfeeding. Hormonally, your body is all over the place. I am willing to bet, that you have water weight. Not only that, since you were breastfeeding recently...your body does try to hang onto some fats. I would think this is just a symptom of your body trying o regulate itself, through. Remember, your body weight naturally fluctuates up to 6-8 pounds a day!!

There are plenty of people that will say you are working out, and muscle weighs more then fat. That's why you weigh more. That's not true. A pound, is a pound, is a pound. A pound of muscle LOOKS different, then a pound of fat. However, it weighs the exact same on a scale. Don't give up and give yourself time, you WILL start losing more. Give your body time, you JUST had a baby. Your body is all kinds of wacky right now. Stick to whole foods, and don't eat anything processed. Eat veggies, meats, fruits, and natural fats.

muscle weighs more, but looks smaller than fat. That could be the reason. the other thing could be bloating, etc. if you are near your period coming. Keep up the workouts, go by how your clothes fit rather than the scale.

Keep doing what you're doing. Don't give up. Your metabolism is still trying to straighten itself out. All of a sudden you will start melting away.

Just keep doing what you are doing. At least 30 minutes a ay of physical activity and changing your eating habits will work. East the healthy version (fat fee, low fat, low sodium, leaner meats, diet sodas) of everything in smaller portions. Snack on fruits and vegetables as much as you want. But eat like 6 mini meals a day. Alot of people think that dieting is torture and includes starving but thats not true. Keep it up, dont be discouraged. Good Luck!

don't get too hung up on the scale. your body is still in a state of wack-out, getting back to post-pregnancy and post-nursing. hormones take a while to settle.
the fact is that whatever water or muscle-building or hormones are doing to the numbers on the scale, what YOU'RE doing is good. your body is getting healthier because of it. i know it's frustrating when the scales don't back up your actions, but they will. you're increasing your good health, which is more important than losing weight. and if you stick with it, the weight WILL come off too.

The one thing that I noticed on WW is that if you do not eat enough fruits & vegetables that you can be at an extremely low caloric intake. For example I think that if you added up the calories for me before the 0 and 1 point items it was only like 1000. So consider the possiblility of you not eating enough and exercising too much and your body going into fat conservation mode. This is most likely 'not' the case but is worth looking into.
