No, we have never had our ducts cleaned, nor our geese.

;)

But we DO have the chimney and the dryer vent done from time to time.

I had it done about five years after we built this house. I saw what the builder crammed into the vents, like Burger King trash, and figured it would cut down on dust. Didn't do a thing other than take about 500 out of my pocket.

We had the same level of dust after that, changed our air filter same as usual, our allergies didn't change.

That was 15 years ago, I will never waste my money on that again.

From what I understand duct cleaning is a waste of money, and actually can make your air quality worse.

Haven't had it done. When we were getting our new system put in , I asked the sales guy about having it done. He said, it really doesn't make a difference. We also, inquired about an air purifying system. He said that , filters are so good now, he doesn't suggest the extra cost of either. I 'm still considering haveing it done, though.

ETA: Thanks Jo, maybe I'll stop considering it.

We did, about 10 years ago and it could probably use it again.

I had to convince my husband to do it because our friend, who also happens to be our HVAC guy convinced my dear husband it was a waste of money. But I went ahead and scheduled it since I am an RN who worked in pulmonary medicine (lung specialists) for 6 years and we recommended it all the time.

I really do think it made a difference since our house, when we bought it, was 12 years old and the previous owners had a small zoo living here! I do think it mad a difference. I think it cost us about $500 at the time, but we have a pretty big house and a lot of vents.

No. But we built both of our homes and lived in the first for only 7 1/2 years and this one so far, only 6. Maybe when a few more years of dust have built up we'll start worrying about it... but probably not. ha ha

I've had it done twice. The first time was the first time when the house was 24y old. The builders junk that they pulled out of there was amazing.

Paid about $200 each time.

The second time was this past year. It does kick up some dust when they do it, but I found that if I vacuumed, the rooms about an hour later, and took a shower, that it helped. I did notice a difference, but it took a few days.

Dust will be in the air. My parents had their house done for the first time (28y), but their house is very dusty, the didn't follow my directions, and they had sinus problems for about 2 weeks. They were not happy with me.

My sister (owns a townhouse) has a certain type of ducts that cannot be cleaned, because the power of the suction will damage the ducts.
