I was told to really watch out for scams with air duct cleaning so I thought I would ask all of you for a referral. Can you recommend a good air duct cleaner, and if so, how much did you pay? Did you notice a significant reduction in dust in your house after the cleaning? Thanks!

What can I do next?

We have had our air ducts cleaned and it does make a difference. You could get several estimates, but I highly recommend Steve at Amistee Air Duct Cleaning. ###-###-####. or 877-349-8877, www.amistee.com. They are reliable and reputable. There are great testimonials on their web site and lots of great resources and information about duct cleaning and how it makes the home healthier. Good luck.

We used Dalton Environmental last year, and it cost around $450, I believe...yikes, I know. But I truly believe you pay for what you get, and they were the best rated. I don't know if I notice a significant reduction in dust, b/c we have older carpeting on our first floor, plus 2 toddlers and an always-shedding dog. However, I would say the flow of air has been significantly improved - with both heat and a/c.
They showed us a "before" view w/ a camera, and an "after" view with the same camera, and WOW - what a difference!

Good luck!

One of my parents owns a duct cleaning service. Oakley Heating and Cooling. I have used them and they good, clean, and quick. Tell them L. Lloyd from St. David's Preschool recommended them. Their phone is ###-###-####. I live on a dirt road, so a reduction in dust was not noticeable.

We had never had our ducts cleaned since we moved in to the house six years ago, and for allergy reasons had them cleaned for our 2 year old daughter. I did not notice ANY difference in the dust. We went with American Quality Temp and it was a HORRIBLE experience. We had one of those "$99 whole house duct cleaning" which includes one main duct blah blah blah. They came in, I gave them the coupon, they started cleaning, then as they were almost done wrote up an invoice for over $400. I refused. He said that I had more than 1 "main". Well in all honesty I don't even know what a main duct looks like so he could've been totally lying. At any rate, I have a 1100 sq ft bungalow. Seriously?? I got my husband on the phone and he told them to get out and we'd only pay half. Then they had the nerve to ask me for cash on the side - for "their troubles". Whatever you do - do not go with that scam place!

A. we had this done about 3 years ago. I believe the price was somewhere around $500. The company was called Safety King. They are in the Novi/Farmington Hills area I believe.
