My son has seasonal allergies. I'm giving him Claritin every morning, which helps, but doesn't eliminate his symptoms. I'd like to get an air filter for his bedroom, so that when he sleeps he's exposed to less allergens. (I keep his windows closed at night.)
Anyone have specific brand recommendations?

Our daughter had Asthma.
Once you purchase one, be sure to purchase extra filters. They recommend changing every 8 weeks. Here where we live it is so dusty and so much stuff in the air, we found that we needed to change it every 6 weeks. During really bad allergy months every 4 weeks..
It is easier to just have extras on hand. We purchased them at the Home Depot, but you can also order them through Hunter.
The other thing we did was got rid of the carpet, he now have all hardwood floors. Got rid of her curtains, so we only had to wipe down the blinds.
The good news is that by about the end of 5th grade (11) she no longer had so much trouble.. and eventually we were able to stop using it.
We have two idylis ones and they are amazing. They are bigger ones, but do a five rooms on one floor. We have had several guests with pet allergies and seasonal allergies that had no issues while visiting. We have three cats and a dog.
my kids have asthma and they each have an Oreck air purifier in their rooms it has a silent mode that runs all night and then during the day I turn it up to high when they aren't in their.
What ever you do make sure you get one taht you can turn the "ionizer" off because and ionizer creates O3 or ozone , O3 makes asthma worse.
Also , the Oreck has blades you can clean instead of buying new filters you jsut clean it.
It helps to wash the bedding once a week and spray the alergen febreeze over the carpet and then vacuum. Our daughter had terrible allergies and a lady I knew suggested this and it worked amazingly! I didn't believe that it would help the way it did! Also -- try keeping his windows closed during the day as well so the outdoor allergens don't come in through the window! :) Good luck!
confirm with your doc but for seasonal allergies I have always heard that RAW, LOCAL honey is the best thing. 1 tsp a day should do it. Buy it from the local farmer's market. It helps the body build up the hystamine blockers internally.
