Alex Wants an Abby Cadabby Themed Birthday, Any Ideas?

So Alex will be 4 soon and who does he adore right now? Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street. No amount of trying to talk him into any other theme has worked so we are just going with it. I Really lucked into some great deals so far, we went to Factory Card outlet and found some Abby themed goodies marked down ( yay) So we have an Abby themed Banner, we will use a generic like colored table cloth, I am going to look for the Wilton cake pan at Michael's, but worst case scenario I did buy an Abby shaped candle that could work as a cake topper if I can't find the cake pan.
I also bought an all in one pack that had gift bags and some Abby themed goodies to put in them. I plan on picking up some bubbles to add to the gift bags.
I really would love some game or craft to tie it all together, we won't have a lot of little ones at the party, at the most I would say 4 or 5?
I am really ok with my little guy who lugs his favorite Fairy around with him ( he changes favorites every couple of months, we have seen an Elmo phase and we were all about Toy Story for about a year though) I am incorporating just as much of the baby blue as a good mix with the typical Abby Pink and purple...does anyone see anything wrong with the kids decorating wands and or wings even though it is a 4 year old boys birthday? I know his grandma is a little weirded out over the deal, not sure how his dad feels as I have just presented it as this is what Alex wants so this is what Alex is having.
Any suggestions appreciated.
People who know me by my posts know that Alex is delayed and on the spectrum/he is socially about age 2, not that it should really affect any ones responses.

I think I'd focus in on Abby's flying fairy school to incorporate something more "boy" friendly. I imagine you could print some pics of Gonnigon and Blogg if you can't find decorations. It shouldn't matter, but maybe it'll make Grandma and Dad feel a little better. Play sesame street music as the kids come in.

We were invited to a fairy party. The hostess had fairy wings and wands to decorate. Most of the boys had no interest in the wings, but they did enjoy the wands quite a bit.

Fairy School is all about problem solving. You could do a simple scavenger hunt with rhyming clues similar to the spells they use...."splish, splash, splace, look where you wash your face." In the bathroom there would be another clue. The kids could help each other out and you, of course, could guide them in the right direction. When they get to the bathroom sink there could be another clue. etc. etc. The "treasure" could be their goody bags.

You could also make plain cupcakes and let them use "fairy dust" (sprinkles) to decorate them.

You could play Pin the Wand on Abby...whoever gets it closest to her hand wins.

Face painting is a hit no matter what the theme!

Sounds like a cute party. Have fun!

I was going to suggest wands too, but I don't know how the other boys would feel about it. You know his friends best. Of course you could have a wand or sword option! I know that Abby probably doesn't condone swords, but I was trying to think "boy"! ;) Does she wear a tiara...I can't remember? You could always decorate crowns, that would be fun. Have you thought about doing a pinata? I don't know if you have the space (or desire) but that would be a fun thing to do and it would take up a lot of time. You could also do a balloon game to balloon toss or something and just use the blue, pink and purple balloons to tie into the theme. If you have outdoor space you could maybe do "flying" races where the kids have to stick out their arms and fly across the yard to the finish line or something. I'm sure it will be fun!

I laughed when I read this because flash backs to my own son came into my mind when at the age of 3 he wanted a "Dori" themed party, not Nemo. He too is an Autistic child:) What is funny though, now at the age of 7, the influence from peers at school has got him telling me he can't do things cause that's what girls do (i.e the swings at school). Or he tells me, "if I see pink, I'll die", then he'll fall to the ground, it's hilarious. I did do a "Dori" themed party, no other child even cared, they just liked blowing bubbles and eating cake. As far as your craft, do what your child wants, it's how they grow and learn. He will most likely become a "total boy" once he hits 7 like my Autistic son!

I dont think you really have to have a game, exactly. We always have pinata. Boys love pinatas. I can't slow them down long enough to explain game rules. I usually let them play out back with the outside toys while the grownups chat. Then cake and presents. We do Pinata last since that's how they make thier own goody bag. I hand everyone an empty goodie bag and then let them take turns whacking at it. By that time, everyones played out and mamma needs a glass of sangria!

Go with the blue accents for everything. Incorporate Abby and some other Sesames characters and decorate "magic" wands. You could also have wings available for any that want to do that too.
